We are thinking of using Access Fertility for our next go at IVF with a multicycle round paid upfront. Just wondering if anyone else has used them and discovered any hidden issues.
I will continue to use CARE at NOTTS where i have made 2 previous cycles 1 nhs 1 private.
But just wondering if anyone else has used them

Hi, we have the 70% refund 3 cycle package with access. Registration and eligibility is relatively easy.. They have the access from the clinic to view medical notes before they say yes or no.. It's relatively quick process, about a week all in all from registering to paying for the package.. They do consider recurrent implantation failures too before they give you the go ahead. Oh really so im 42 i did tell them about 2 failed cycles. And im not changing clinics so hopefully that will help things run a bit smoother. Im glad your experience has been positive.

Are you looking at a refund package or just the multi cycle where you get no refund if you don’t get pregnant. It is easier to be accepted on the multi cycle where you don’t get a refund if you have had previous failures. I used them and it was easy to set up and once I’d paid it was all done through my clinic, I just had to pay for meds, embryoscope and embryo glue as they weren’t included in the package, but I was aware of that when I signed up. I found them really helpful when I rung to discuss options with them. I’m happy to answer any questions if needed x

Im worried about handing all the money over to a 3rd party thats what it feels like so wanted to make sure most had got what they paid for

I had a fab experience with them, and after my little boy was born they sent me a card and a teddy bear for him. I felt the same. It’s a massive amount of money to be handing over to someone but they were great. You need to be aware that if you manage to bank any embryos they need to be used first before moving onto another fresh cycle. Also if you had a live birth on your first attempt with them, that then cancels any other cycles in the package. It can be a risk that you could spend more than you would have done if you went direct to the clinic if it works first time, but I wanted the peace of mind that I had further attempts if I needed it and that I wouldn’t care if it cost more as I would have my baby x
Hi, so far so good with me. We went for the two cycle 50% refund although we were offered other options. I found them really easy to deal with and everything in place before cycle. Was worried about having to argue about what it covered/didn’t cover but my clinic seem to know (although I do keep checking just in case)
I just found it difficult to decide if it was worth it or not but went with it just to take the stress out of it all.
As you have to pay for your meds I did a half arsed attempt at looking where I could get my meds cheaper. But in the end just went with clinic quote as prices seemed competitive and also I really couldn’t face sorting it all out.
Ahh this is good i was worried maybe i might miss something somewhere and then get stung.
Do they charge more for letting embryos develop for an extra day do you know.

Yikes. We were thinking about using them but that puts a different spin on it. Seems quite expensive in that case but also I guess not expensive if things don’t work out 🤔. IVF costs are just eye watering. We have just had one failed round of mild but I can see how quickly the savings will disappear and debt will accrue if the journey continues to be difficult. Xxx
Yes it can get very expensive... We've spent around £15-16,000 including the package so far... That's 2 failed fresh cycles. We have 1 cycle left in the package. We used the remainder of a loan, savings and gofundme to fund the last 2 rounds of medication... Back on savings now for the last round on January. You have to try and ignore the costs when going through a cycle, costs are mouth watering! X
Yeah thats what we will of spent by the end of this go. And if unsuccessful will be it for us as i suppose i will be 43 at least by then and might have to consider defeat. Good luck to you guys

Hello, I'm 41 and also considering Access. The catch for me at my age is that only the 2 cycle package is available (no refund). Also all embryos from the first cycle have to be used before moving onto the second cycle. This is a disadvantage at my age as with single cycles there might be the prospect of banking some embryos (whilst the eggs are youngest) before moving onto the next cycle, which isn't offered with Access. Who knows how old I'll be before Cycle 2! Hope things go well for you x

I didnt think of it like that. But tbf out of my 2 cycles already ive only had 1 that could be frozen so maybe thats not a concern im going to have although would be nice lol

Just 1 funded NHS cycle (1 3AB transferred fresh = BFN; 5BB & 4BC+ frozens to be transferred on Monday). If that doesn't work, it will probably be Access. My concern is the time needed to wait before future cycles. I am hoping a withdrawal bleed, then starting on the next period would be sufficient, but not sure if this applies to frozen and fresh transfers? Good luck x
Yes i see what you are saying sonething i will ask i think. My clinic have never told me my embryo gradings. Did u have to ask this they told me i only had one that could be frozen and one that couldnt so i put them both in in hindsight wish id frozen that one. Maybe an FET is what my body needed some time out to rest.

Yeah, I did have to ask the embryologist the grades and at what point my 14 fertilised embryos stopped developing. Don't think that info generally comes as standard without asking at my NHS clinic x
I've used them and was 42 when we started with them and therefore didn't qualify for the refund either. The only frustration I had was that I had 3 FETs cancelled because of my lining and I had to pay a cancellation fee (albeit *only* £200 which in the grand scheme of IVF isn't much). I would understand if I'd cancelled as I'd decided to go on holiday etc but it wasn't my fault. I also found them to be really flexible as, due to my age, Covid and a medical condition, they agreed I could do the 2nd egg collection before using up all my embryos from the first round. Also, a lot of the add ons Care offer are covered as well so when you compare the prices it makes it significantly cheaper if you are likely to need more than 1 cycle xx
Ahh ok so this really interesting thankyou. If i have eggs to freeze then maybe i can broach the subject about freezing them then doing second cycle.... Did you do this upfront? At no extra cost as i know they state all eggs to be used before next cycle. Hope you are succesful in you journey. XX
No I didn’t discuss up front, it was to do with my age, existing medical condition and Covid delays. My Consultant supported it medically so if there is a reason why you need to medically I can’t see it being an issue. Good luck! x
Hi I have jumped on this thread and read your message here, can you confirm what add ons are included as I only thought the unlimited FET and freezing and storage is included, no other add ons?.
Hi, you’re right I don’t think any other add ons are included. You need to pay extra if you need ICSI as that’s not included either. It does include CareMaps if you go with Care. Medication, embryo glue etc have to be paid for separately. I also had to pay if there was more than 1 cancellation per cycle (I had a thin lining so had 3 FETs cancelled). I would still not hesitate to use Access again. Hope that helps? xx

Sorry that you have had a cancelled cycle. It’s hard to deal with.
My husband researched and said statistically, couples need more than one cycle to conceive through IVF.
We're using them for a two cycle package which works out cheaper than if we were paying our clinic for two cycles. We contemplated the unlimited packed but neither of us have health concerns that might cause repeated failures 🤞🤞.
I'm also on an NHS wait list so hopefully can use that if needed (which where we are is three cycles).
For us we wanted to remove any added stress around finances by paying in a lump sum up front.
Only hidden annoying thing was the added cost of meds which for us was about £1000-£1200. We will also have to use all embryos in first cycle before starting 2nd.
Yeah this will be our 3rd/4th attempt if we use both cycles so i think for us its worh it. That will be it then i think as roughly will of spent 15k in total. Medication for me has been 1200 each time we knew that was extra so expected that.

Hi I've used access fertility, and we had 2 rounds of fresh cycle. Ss my last embies were not suitable for transfer. We are at a road where we need to decide what to do next.
Due to my age we would be only allowed the 2 fresh cycle ivf. The medication costs, blood test and pgs testing would be additional costs and I have worked it out that if we have both cycle, plus the pgs testing and medication it will costs us around £19000.
However, I am also looking at mild, natural ivf too and the leading fertility clinic also does a package for 3 egg collections plus 1 transfer. Including medication would be £13,500. Pgs testing is on top. Which is a set fee plus £500 for each embryos transferred. I would have my embryos pgs tested because of my miscarriages.
I would have gone with access fertility or there is a similar plan which is slightly cheaper but the clinic they are with in coventry dont do pgs testing. But atm we are considering mild Ivf which access fertility dont cover.

Hey Lucy. Waiting on going into round 2 we So far have had no issues at all. They don't pay for your initial consultation and any pretests you might need. But as this was our 3rd4th cycle we had had all those. My husband sperm tested quite high this round with oxidised stress so we are currently on 3 months of him taking proxceed to see if this helps. If it doesn't we made need ICSI. So the test will be what happens then whether the will agree to honour treatment of the will refund us the second half of money.. good luck with your journey xx.
No I didn't think so there's so admin costs for example if you end up having a freeze all round but that is all laid out in black and white. I felt the t&s were pretty transparent
No not at all. We had a call with them so we could ask any questions but I felt the T &cs were ok. ... Although I'm worried now.... Have u picked up on something lol
