Hi I’ve just failed my second round of NHS Dundee IVF and now the doctors are suggesting a hysteroscopy to see if I would benefit from surgery as I have a large fibroid in my uterus. As I only have one funded cycle left and no frozen embryos I was wondering if anyone has had a hysteroscopy and/or subsequent surgery, I’m not getting very clear advice ion the next course of action

Surgery for fibroids
Really sorry to hear about your second round. I’ve had a hysteroscopy recently and had a polyp removed. Fibroids and polyps are made of different types of tissue but from what I understand they both have the same impact.
They don’t respond to progesterone so they reduce the amount of available receptive lining. Getting them out improves chances of implantation.xx
Thanks for the reply I think I’m definitely going to go ahead with the hysteroscopy before another cycle at least to feel like we’ve explored every avenue and issue
Hi I’ve had and still got big fibroids. I’ve had a myomectomy and other surgery on them. I’ve also had numerous hysteroscopies so feel free to PM me if you have any questions x
Hi love sorry about your failed cycle so hard when it fails but keep going ! I had a hysteroscopy glad I did coz finally found out I had a bicorunate uterus (heart shaped) and a fibroid sitting at the top of it and a bit of endo which they removed Which obv meant was more difficult for me to conceive anyway had my womb scraped and started steroids on my last go and now pregnant I would def go for the surgery xx
