So I’ve been on here a long time just not posted anything for a while as nothing much was happening as we were only ttc naturally (3yrs) we’ve had 3 mmc & 2 chemicals we had mc tests and basic fertility tests but other than low amh nothing was found and fertility clinic basically signed us off with no treatment to offer. I hit 40 in March and decided I would start moving on putting 3 mmc and 2 chemicals behind me and try to be happy emotionally again not using birth control but not tracking etc figured my eggs are just too weak now.
6 mths later I found out and amazed I am pregnant again I arranged a scan for today at 6w I wanted to know earlier if it was blighted again as it’s heartbreaking anyway but finding out at 12w is way too long. I’m actually quite shocked to see a heartbeat my anxiety and blood pressure was through the roof at the hospital. I’m praying this time all goes fine it’s great to see a heartbeat but there’s always a dreaded feeling it could go wrong but trying to be super positive🤞🏼just want to get past 12w hopefully can relax a little bit.
Thank you, I was told I’d get weekly scans but the epu today said no just this one then the midwife takes over and only usually a 12w scan but the midwife can refer for another one so I’m going to push for another if not I might get a private scan.
Awww I'm absolutely over the moon for you!!💕💕 Best news ever! Super brave to be by yourself today too.💪🏻 The NHS didnt offer me any scans but we got one at around 9wks as I could t handle my anxiety anymore, was £70 and worth every penny!! Congratulations!xxx

Kathgibson I know I hate scans I’ve not had any good news previously at them but I do feel it’s better to know either way earlier.
Thank you, I was so nervous my blood pressure was 188/65 she asked if “I was anxious at all”? big fat YES! I’ve got a midwife app she squeezed me in for Friday not sure if it’s a booking in she just said for bloods I’m going to ask for another scan if not private.
That's great news, congratulations!! I hope you don't mind me commenting... When you have bloods done, I'd ask them to test progesterone too, to make sure level is ok. If it's low it can be easily corrected with pessaries / injections, until the placenta takes over progesterone production. Also if you need a private scan, have a look at Window to the Womb / First Scan - we have used them a couple of times and been great. We're just on outskirts of London and the scans cost £49, much cheaper than many other places. Everything crossed for you xx
Can I just ask if progesterone was low or drops it would start a mc because all 3 of my mc were at 12w so I guess progesterone was high enough to keep the pregnancy progressing is it not losing early at say 4-6w it would be low? but I'll ask thank you. I've checked window to the womb Newcastle branch they haven't got any offers on at the min its £79 but I will see what the midwife says hopefully I can push her for a scan around 9w x
Yes it's one of the causes of miscarriage, for me it was the biggest issue because my body doesn't seem to produce it on its own since i had cancer treatment. Just thought worth a check... But I'm definitely not ac expert! Good luck xx
I asked at my reoccurring mc tests about progesterone dr just looked at me funny then said it wouldn’t be offered as it’s not likely to work something along them lines which I thought was bizarre knowing they use progesterone with ivf etc but hey I’m not a dr I thought it was something to mention aswel.
Hmm that is an odd response! I guess if your miscarriages have been around 12wks, the placenta should have taken over production at that point, but then I'm aware some IVF patients have to take progesterone meds beyond 12 wks but i don't understand it enough to know the difference. My progesterone at 4wks was v low at 28nmol/L, should have been 80+. I was already on pessaries as did IVF but then went onto injections as well as I was at risk of miscarriage.
I honestly don’t know for sure nobody really tells you, I was trying to absorb info while trying not to lose my shit by crying lol maybe got confused. I will ask tho thank you x
This is such lovely news! So happy to hear your scan went well. I’ve just found myself in a similar position but can’t quite work out how far along I would be classed as, so I’m desperately hoping I make it as far as that first early scan! I think I have another 8-10 days to wait x
This is amazing news. So happy for you and hope the time goes fast until you can have another scan ☺️Make sure they monitor uour blood pressure too but it is known to increase at this stage of pregnancy so probably that mixed with your anxiety!
Thank you, honestly I hope it was just because I was anxious but I’ve had been hot on and off and my palpitations have been happening a lot more I’m going to mention it with the midwife on Friday.
I’m sure it was anxiety and if you’re like me it goes up when it’s read as I worry it will be high 🤦🏻♀️ - midwife will check regularly anyway but definitely worth mentioning so you and bubba are fully looked after ☺️xx

Congratulations. Such wonderful news I’m so happy for you & I hope all continues to go well. After so many losses it must be so tough being pregnant. I’m sorry EPU won’t offer weekly scans under those circumstances. Perhaps have a private scan in between now & dating scan? Seeing a baby with a strong heartbeat at only 6 weeks sounds like a strong baby ❤️ xxx
