Sub-chorionic detachment

Hello fellow fertility warriors

Has anyone else had bleeding due to sub-chorionic detachment? I am abroad visiting my family and had to go to a private clinic to have a scan as I started bleeding. Would love to hear if anyone else has had this. I read online it can be common with FET. I’m 7 weeks pregnant.

Any reassurance would be greatly appreciated xxxx

I'm afraid that when I had this it did not end well, but I remember reading a lot about it at the time and reading that in some cases the pregnancy does turn out ok. Really hoping things are ok for you, wishing you lots of luck xx

Hey Feminist! This is really common and according to my consultant, new research shows it does not increase risk of miscarriage. They should advise you to come off blood thinners though to try and stop the bleeding. I found rest and loads of water did the job. Xxxx

Thank you for taking the time to write recidwen! Its really helpful to get some reassurance. I was wondering about the blood thinners too. I am going to call the clinic now to ask for advice. 🤗❤️

I had/have a huge sub-chorionic hematoma, which used to circle the embroy/sac like a half-moon...only about five times bigger than the sac itself!😱

I had two (heavy) bleeding episodes, nothing since - four weeks now. The hematoma has decreased some in size (not as much as I would have liked...), but mostly it has moved away from the fetus and one can see that the blood is coagulated. I'm almost 12 weeks and thing seem to go well...

I stopped taking baby-aspirin after the second bleeding episode, but stayed on the Clexane, which I will only stop this week. According to my doctors, it should desolve fast(ish) once I'm off all blood thinners...

And, yes, it is apparently VERY common in IVF pregnancies - again, according to my doctors, mostly due to a less than perfect hormonal environment, induced by drugs, rather than the body itself (they gave me the elephant in the porcelan shop analogy...🙄)

Good luck to you!🍀

Thank you Kate, that’s really helpful. Mine also seems to stretch across the embryo. Fingers crossed for both of us. 🤗

And take tons of progesterone. I was on injections twice a day and one extra boost every three days !!!

I had SCH after FET that they discovered around 7 weeks also. Around 11/12 weeks I had brown blood discharge that lasted over a week which petrified me. But when I went in for a scan around 12/13 weeks, it had totally resolved.

My doctor also said it’s quite common and usually resolved on its own.

All the best to you!
