Low AMH cycle update: BFN!

Hello ladies. I’m really sorry I don’t have another miracle story. My cycle ended exactly 2 weeks after egg collection when AF turned up.

I had a bad feeling about this round from the very start so I was prepared. Obviously it did feel like a massive punch in the face for a day or so but I treated myself to a furiously expensive handbag, had a few G&Ts and now Iv well and truly got my fighting spirit back.

I spoke with my consultant yesterday. We agreed that I respond better to 150 Bemfola (this is what we did for my first round from which we had our little boy) This time I was on 300 Bemfola. My follicles grew at different speeds and the egg quality was inferior.

So, we are having a little break. I’m going on a massive health kick, concentrating on getting my iron levels up to where they should be (I was boarder line anemic during this round 🤔) and we are coming back to fight again mid October!

Infertility you have won this battle but you have not won the war!!

The one thing I have never tried is lower dose stims and a long protocol. To me it makes perfect sense. According to my Dr for my age the flare protocol and 300iu Gonal f is best they can recommend.

I have only ever done short protocol but Iv now had a round with 150iu’s and one with 300iu’s and it’s obvious with me that the lower dose produces better results. I wish I’d stuck with the 150 this time instead of wasting £7.5k! We switched from low to high because on my baseline scan I had 6 follicles instead of my usual 3. My consultant wanted to try and get as many eggs as possible but I’m a big believer in less is more. Ovaries are only really designed to produce one good egg each month 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not long until your OTD... don’t do what I did and test early 🤯Xx

I know on top of all the emotional stress we have all the financial implications. Have you considered sending in a complaint if you feel you have grounds for one. I.e If you feel your preferred way wasn’t listened to. I had an issue where they wanted me to try Menopur (for better quality) as opposed to Gonal f despite having always responded very well to Gonal f. It was a disaster and I had a failed cycle, didn’t even have anything to transfer. They were adamant it was age factor yet the next cycle I insisted on gonal f I had much better results and collected 5 mature eggs. I managed to get a replacement cycle ‘free of charge’ simply by putting my feelings writing and telling them how I felt cheated out of a round. Worth a go perhaps ?

I know I was so confident for a while but woke up feeling less confident this morning. The last 2 nights I haven’t been up to pee in the night yet I have been all other nights since transfer. I know it’s stupid but similar happened last time.... One promising sign yesterday was my pee was a neon yellow colour in afternoon.... almost like after you have had a Berroca... read good sign . ( I am drinking plenty water). Anyway need to stop analysing everything 😂

I’m really happy with our consultant. He has been absolutely brilliant with us. He thought I’d do better seeing as I had a lot more follicles on the baseline scan. I understood his thinking and was happy to give it a go. It could have turned out really well, no one was to know how I would respond. It’s just one of those things. On the positive side I know now what doesn’t work for me, and bizarrely I feel really confident starting out next round back on the low dose... famous last words! 🥴

Keep distracted and try not to over think everything. Not long to go 🤞🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻✨Xx

That’s great was complete opposite for us so they compensated us with a replacement cycle. We are going through that one now 🤞🏼

Admire your determination and strength, the only thing that kept me going was planning my next cycle 💪

Thanks, easier said than done. Had really restless sleep only 4 hours last night. 🙈. Weird as started 2ww with 6-7 and now averaging 4-5. Am back in bed away to listen to my Zita west podcast keeps me relaxed x

Thank you 🙏🏻 I felt pretty awful for a day or two but now all I can think about is getting to October as quickly as possible. BFNs are bloody awful but I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason. We must keep our chins up and stay strong 💪🏻 Xx

Indeed we do. I think the important thing is to try and live as normal a life as possible between rounds otherwise it just becomes all consuming. Hope you are ok today Xx

Thanks country mouse - yeah had a sleepless night - been awake since 3.30 which tbh seems to be since I’ve been on cyclogest I wake at 3.30 /4 am sometimes I get back to sleep but not others. Acupuncture has been helping but not this week 😔 bleeding has stopped but trying not to get hopes up , I’m still cramping. I tested again today and a bfn but am putting the test strips away and waiting until thurs and will face it then! Fortunately I have thurs and fri off work as my b day week. I have 2 full on days at work on Monday and tues and my bday weds so hopefully time will pass quickly!!
