Ovulation tracking for FET

Hi all,

We have been given the go ahead for our FET transfer by our clinic. I started tracking my ovulation at day 10, and noticed the lines were getting darker from day 12 so I downloaded the Premom app to keep an eye on them. Since that day though the lines are getting weaker each day. We are on a natural cycle and I was nervous about this as ovulation tracking never worked for us when we were trying naturally - and I have long cycles. Can your surge suddenly just spike? Feeling so demotivated right now and feel like we may just be wasting our time 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for reading x

If you have long cycles (not sure how long you're talking) its likely that you will ovulate later in your cycle. My cycles at one point were around 32 days and I didnt get positives until around day 18. I usually find that testing twice a day with these strips is important as Ive often had my peak in the afternoon.xx

Thanks for your reply. My cycles range from 30 - 42 days. I think I’m just confused as it seems to be getting lighter each day. I’ll carry on - the clinic did say if I get to day 18 they can switch to medicated cycle if needed x

Yes, carry on and see how it goes. At least your clinic has a fall back plan for you. As I said when my cycles were longer ovulation was much later....or it was for me anyway! Hope it all goes well.xx

Hi, I have had the go ahead as well, with my clinic to tracl my cycle this month for FET in June, but am not due to start tracking for a couple of days. I think for longer cycles what have you said sounds ok to me, and I am going to definitely track twice a day because I worry the surge could come at any time and be brief. Do you mind me asking what strips you are using to track? I wasn't sure what to go with as similar to you I didn't have a lot of luck tracking ovulation when I was trying naturally. Thanks and good luck!!

Hi,

I just bought the cheap sticks off eBay - my clinic said they were just as good as any. I ordered them before we had the go ahead just to try this month, then luckily the clinic has opened so fingers crossed we can have our FET at the end of this month. I then downloaded the Premom app, it’s free and apparently works with any ovulation test!

Fingers crossed for us both that they work and we can go ahead with the FET as planned! Xx

Ovulation roughly takes place 14 days before your period so with a 30 day cycle you’ll ovu around cd16 on a 42 day cycle it’ll be cd28 give or take a few day depending on your luteal phase length (Average 12-16days)

My surge is literally one wee I get one faint test the day before and the next day its positive for only one test then next wee it negative. But I’ve been blessed with ovulation pains which helps pin point the day. I started doing bbt alongside Opk but now I only do bbt.

Thanks for your reply. I think I’m worrying at they get fainter each day - not sure if this was normal or not?! Hopefully if I get to Sunday they can switch to medicated - although I’m not 100% sure of what this would be so not sure if I would get my transfer as soon as we hoped for 😬 x

Hi, I use something called OvuSense, it you haven’t heard of it then look it up it’s a little silicone thing you insert inside you at bedtime and it tracks your basal body temperature on an app on your phone - And tells you when your ovulating very handy for People with long unpredictable cycles.

Good luck 😁

Oh wow, thanks for the tip, I’ll look in to this!x

Ovulation tests are different to pregnancy test they don’t need to show progression. I’m not ivf knowledgable so not sure what your next steps are hopefully it won’t delay your treatment 🤞🏼

I would guess the earliest you would ovu is cd16 so they’re waiting til cd18 maybe they’re not wanting you to have a long cycle.
