Progesterone post transfer?

I am interested to know what meds are taken after transfers and in which quantities. I haven’t had a transfer and I am unlikely to have one with this virus but I was told that my hormones are abnormally low. So I am thinking that I might want to take some of the meds I received for my cancelled cycle when trying to conceive naturally. In particular, I read that low progesterone causes miscarriage. Si even if I al lucky enough to get pregnant, I might miscarry to to my low hormones. Could you please share tour post transfer treatment and any thoughts with me? X

Hi Lilly, I’m on 800mg progesterone daily since my transfer a week ago. I think you have to stay on it for up to 10 weeks of your pregnancy x

Thank you for your answer. How is your progesterone called? Is that Norethiserone? (I have this in stock)

No you wouldn’t take norethiserone after egg collection. The progesterone pessaries I take are called cyclogest. But there a few variations x

Norethiserone is usually taken before you start stimming x

Do not use Norethisterone. Read the leaflet in the box, can cause births defects. Norethisterone is typically used to delay your period x

No problem! Cyclogest and Crinone are the two main ones used in IVF x

My Dr swears by 1.5 progesterone oil 1x a day and a suppository at night. 12 his apart. 1mg estrogen AM and PM.

Although I didn't get pregnant 1st time (fresh after ER) we are praying this time it sticks**

Best of luck!!!

I think it's only progesterone you take after transfer. I'm on 400mg cyclogest pessary I the morning then 25mg lubuon injection lunchtime then pessary again at bedtime. Apparently its until week 12 of pregnancy x

Thank you for your reply. Is Norethisterone also suitable after transfer? I have some in stock and it seems to be progesterone based

I'm sorry I havent heard anything about that so cant advise..your clinic can inform you what you'll need though x

Lilly i used norethisterone for 10 days to get a bleed to start my ivf process. So dont use it if you get your period normally. After i stoped AF arrived 2 days later. Women are put on it if they dont have regular periods or if you clinic has certain days planned for your treatment xx

So it’s given to trigger the periods?

It’s given to delay your period, once you stop taking it you normally come on. Most people take it when they are going on holiday or a big event and don’t want their period during that time x

It was in my case because i was due to start ivf but my period wasnt coming after 64 days. So my clinic put me on this and after i stopped taking it i got my period. I have heard that you can also delay your period with it. But im not sure what days you have to take them in your cycle. For you once you have started your stims i dont think its of any use x

I used cyclogest post EC and was also given estradiol to take twice a day I think it was for a couple of weeks from memory. Only thing I would say is if you are going to self administer you might want to get an indication of dosage from your clinic based on your latest hormone levels etc xx
