Hi. I found this message board invaluable during my ivf cycle at the start of the year so I wanted to share my journey in the hope that it will help some of you.
Our infertility was unexplained, although I’m pretty sure it was my endometriosis that was causing problems. After 3years of trying (everything) it was my acupuncturist who encouraged me that it was time to get help.
Luckily there wasn’t a long wait so when we were referred in November last year we began a long protocol of IVF in January. In March 6 eggs were collected. I was disappointed on the number as I had around 20 follicles leading up to collection. But I was told again and again that it only takes one and it’s quality not quantity.
After the agonising wait we had the call that 5 of the 6 had fertilised and we would be having a transfer on day 5. Day 5 arrived and we ended up with 3 high grade embryos, one was transferred and two were frozen.
Another agonising wait, this time the two week wait, which we’re all so familiar with, we got a positive pregnancy test. We just couldn’t believe it. I went into the first cycle thinking it was a trial run and not believing that it could work first time.
Our daughter was born on 4 Dec after a very easy and stress-free pregnancy (I’m convinced that anyone with fertility issues don’t complain when pregnant) and is the best present we could have wished for. After many years of disappointment and miscarriage we know exactly how lucky we are

Thank you. I was told I have severe endo although fortunately I don’t find it dehabilitating like some do. My last laparoscopic surgery was in 2016 and it hasn’t been too bad apart from when I went on the pill to start IVF. That was the worst pain I’d experienced. Luckily it was just the hormones and didn’t last.
I’m in the diagnosis process and think I have r v endo they put me on the pill for 3 month and it feels worse than it did hope to have a lap soon.shes absolutely beautiful and it’s great the ivf worked 1st time xx
So lovely to see positive endings, so often don’t get it see when it goes right! Congratulations you must be absolutely amazed! What a beautiful little girl ❤️

I agree with you, we should not give up. Giving up is not even an option in this journey. Look at that beautiful baby, that's your reward for not giving up. I got my baby after 10 years of trying, so no matter how much time and effort it takes, it's worth it. Thank you for sharing this here Kirmie, it will inspire a lot of people out there. It's a great thing that you are sharing this here. No one should give up on this journey. If you don't give up, you will also become parents of a baby like this. So think about it, if you stop trying today, you will never be able to hold that beauty in your hands ever. And trust me, there's no feeling more beautiful than that. I hope you understand. It's a great thing that you shared your story here. People need to know that it's possible. No matter what you are facing, you can still make it work. If one treatment will not work for you, then the other treatment will work. So with some patience and efforts, you will be able to get through it.
