Early pregnancy anxiety

We've just got our first ever BFP after OI IUI and while super excited and shocked I'm also incredibly anxious. I'm getting lots of twinges and mild pains and thinking the worst every time I feel something. Its a few weeks still to go before we get our early scan and not sure how I'm going to cope until then. Anyone else at the same stage or any advice on how to cope? X

I wish I was getting twinges! I don't have a single symptom so I'm freaking out too. I think it's normal to be worried.

How many weeks are you? We'll both be fine. Trying to tell myself that this may be the only time I get to be pregnant so I'm going to try to enjoy something I've waited so long to experience rather than just worrying all the time. Easier said than done!

5 weeks today.

Yes it's harder to stop and enjoy it but I think the fact you have twinges is a good sign. Rest up and enjoy xx

Oh my goodness! I could’ve written this myself! I have been so anxious the entire time and all I want to do is enjoy it! I’m 11 weeks and 2 days now (not that I’m counting) ... and I’m still anxious! The only thing I have found that helps me is to just think of everyday as a win and I enjoy ticking them off on the calendar each night... might sound silly but it helps. It definitely helped me to get to my first scan at nearly 8 weeks! x

Congratulations!

That's a lovely idea, thanks. You're right, every day is definitely a win. We want to be able to tell people and celebrate just getting to this point, whatever happens. X

Thank you!

I completely understand... I have told close friends and family already as I wanted to share the news and be happy in this moment...

Congratulations to you! Hope your scan date comes around fast x

This is exactly how I feel! When is your scan? I still can’t quite believe I’m pregnant! I’m trying not to overthink everything but it is so hard! My scan feels like it’s forever away I just want it to be here!! xx

Not until 13th Jan. How about you? I'm not getting any symptoms now so fearing the worst.

31st Dec so not too long to go now! I’m really tired all the time and the last few mornings I haven’t felt great. At first I felt like I was just waiting for AF to turn up but I’ve tried my best to try and forget about it and try and be as normal as possible. It’s been hard but Christmas has definitely been a distraction!! Hope you’re ok 😊 and good luck with your scan xx

Not long to go! How many weeks will you be at your scan? Ours is booked for 8 weeks but tempted to get a private one at 6.x

If I’ve worked the dates out properly we’ll be 7 weeks and 2 days but I’m not 100% sure 🙈 did your clinic offer you a blood test or have you only done a home pregnancy test? xx

We haven't been offered a blood test. We've only done home pregnancy tests (4 of them!)

Our clinic don’t do them either. I’ve only done 1 test haha I haven’t been brave enough to do another! We have our scan in 4 days so I’m soldiering on!! xx

I feel exactly the same. I love the idea of ticking each day off suggested by Helenjudi so might try that myself. I am also flying soon for the holidays and the thought that something might happen is also so stressful. When is your scan?

Not until the 13th. It feels like forever!

I felt the same. Lots of twinges and cramps and shooting pains. Mine settled down at around 5 and half weeks. Cramping is totally normal :) congratulations on your BFP x

That's so interesting. I'm 5 and a half weeks now and all symptoms have stopped so I was panicking. How many weeks are you now? X

I’m 8 weeks now. Most of week 6 I felt nauseous but now I don’t. I think symptoms come and go a lot in early pregnancy xx

It’s totally normal to feel like that, I’m 10 weeks and 4 days and i still worry everyday. I’ve had three scans on at 6 weeks one at 7wks 4 days and one at 9 weeks all fine with a heathy heartbeat but I still can’t believe it.

I’ve had lots of cramping all the way though midwife said it was totally normal. Another scan on Saturday booked at 11 wks. This is so we can hopefully tell our family on Christmas Day. I just try and focus each day as it comes. I think when you have been on a journey to conceive you just think something is going to happen. Congratulations on your BFP x

Hiya, I think twinges and cramps are so common and completely natural but I remember feeling the same. I used to have a mantra "today I am pregnant"and just try and take it a day at a time. wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy xx

Caved and went for a private scan today. Measuring a bit smaller than our dates but there was a heart beat! X

I'm just reading this post as I'm now 3 weeks post transfer and have a positive but can't even dare to believe it. I'm getting twinges but no sore boobs or sickness. I can't help but want those symptoms even though I know they'll be horrible when they come. How are you getting on now?

The original post is a few months old now and I've since posted a couple of times about my miscarriage. Need to work out how to turn off commenting for this post as it was pretty upsetting to be reminded.
