So today is my OTD and I’m officially pregnant which is wonderful. However I’m ever the worst migraines ... that I cannot shift.

My gp said I can try cocodomol and ibuprofen neither of which have made any difference.

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions that I could try to help it non medicinal?

Thanks .. in bed in terrible pain x

I would seek a midwife ASAP not to worry you but migraines indicated I was miss carrying so I’d definitely seek a second opinion or express more concern about it

No never suffered before! just when pregnant and it wasn’t a positive symptom I ended up miscarrying it’s one of the first signs of misscarrige but a lot of people don’t talk about that, when they talk about misscarrige .I mean my head was literally killing and spacey and it went on for days I went for a scan and found out my baby died it’s related to your hormones and hcg levels please get a second opinion about your migraines I have had 3 children living and never had migraine with them but my last one yes!they only usually recommend paracetamol if it was me and your feeling this way I would take low dose aspirin to be sure hope this helps don’t want to scare you but if it’s not your normal see someone

You shouldn’t have been advised to take ibuprofen when you’re pregnant. Definitely seek a second opinion. In the meantime take paracetamol, try heat on your head (a hot water bottle for example, darkened quiet room and drink lots of water xx

Thanks Tugsgirl just read some guidance on Iburofen and it states it’s fine before 24w but will stay off it now. X

I was suffering with migraines after my FET I was told by the clinic to take paracetamol, lie in a dark room with a cold flannel across my forehead and eyes. It did help relieve it in the end. Hope you’re ok xxx

Try ice pack. It really helps me when I have one! Hope you feel better!

Thanks ladies, I spoke with my GP as I have suffered from migraines since 10 years of age. I normally have Rizatriptan but not allowed that. It’s scared me a little with the ibuprofen as I’ve just read you shouldn’t have any. Definitely won’t take anymore!! X

Hi Leigh. Sorry to say, but ibuprofen is not recommended in early pregnancy. Try drinking more water, which can help while your hormones are so busy! Be careful not to get constipated if taking regular Co-codamol. Hope you soon feel better and can enjoy your pregnancy. look forward to your first scan, that will reassure you. Diane
