Hi there I don’t want to upset people saying I have children but I’ve recently found out it might be a struggle to have more which I was planning I just really want to know what people do for ivf I know nothing about the process I won’t get any nhs funding.i will have to pay with me having children my partner Dosent you see.
was wondering what the process is as always thought people had to inject themselves I don’t really no anything about it sending baby dust to all those struggling x
Hi!! I’m just starting my first ivf cycle paying private as I have a son already. Unexplained Secondary infertility is me as all tests Iv had have came back fine.
So ivf... I’m just about to start injections (every morning) to down regulate and then go back to clinic on 24th Dec to check my progress. They will then hopefully prescribe next injection to start Xmas day to encourage follicle growth. They will then scan me regularly until ready to collect. Eggs will be mixed with partners sperm and then left for 3-5 days before putting back in. Hoping for success of BFP! X
This sounds all goboldi hoop to me I guess I never really know much about the birds and the bees other than what goes in must come out lol...so what does down regulate mean and follicle growth?is that what’s in our ovaries and grows into a baby sorry for my ignorance!! I have endometriosis so may in the end have to by pass the Fallopian tubes I may not but need more tests to figure out which way to go it is possible for some people to try naturally but it can sometimes take years so I’m weighing up my options
Hello, IVF can be a good treatment option for people with fallopian tubes issues. have you had a laparoscopy ? There's lots of lovely ladies on here with experience of endometriosis so they will be able to give you some advice on here too about their journeys. but if you are really confused about the whole IVF process that's understandable as there are a lot of variations of approaches and drugs because it is a treatment for people with lots of different conditions and reasons for struggling to conceive.
If you are after a simple overview of IVF this might help : 'normally' during the first 2 weeks each monthly cycle there are follicles in each ovary that start small and grow, it's a bit of a competition the strongest one develops and releases an egg. IVF gives you drugs that you could take through injections in your tummy to help those follicles to grow and therefore hopefully produce lots more eggs. They are collected by the Dr through a simple procedure (which can leave you a bit sore but is very quick) on a certain day usually around the time you would normally release the one egg. The same day your partner will produce a sperm sample and all being well the eggs and sperm are put together either in a little dish or sometimes the sperm is injected into the eggs to help them off to a good start. The doctors then look after them for up to 5 days to see how they grow into an embryo and all being well one can be put back into you, simply through a tiny tube (that feels at worst like a smear test). Then you wait another 10-14 days before you take a pregnancy test to see.

Hi, totally get where youre coming from, i have a daughter already and 2 grown up stepkids so we are having to pay. We are going for natural or natural modified ivf which is less to no drugs and cheaper. Starting in Jan after several setback. I have endo and my tubes are sluggish, had no problem conceiving twice before x
Hi thanks for reply I’ve not known I’ve had it long but I know it’s getting worse got no one to talk to about this finding it hard talking to my partner because he Dosent like talking about women’s issues have you had a lap?first time I’m thinking about ivf I don’t think he will be happy about considering ivf what’s the difference in methods
Yes i had a lap for endometriosis and because we had been trying for 2 years and nothing had happened apart from a very early miscarriage. Thats when they flushed my tubes and though they were open they were slow to spill meaning the egg isnt getting out in time or at all. I was told i can still have a spontanious pregnancy but due to my age, i was 38 when we started trying again and 34 when i was preg with my daughter, that we should have ivf. I didnt want ivf or think we could afford it but my partner talked me round as he knew id regret not doing it later in life.
Conventional ivf is when they put you on down regulation which surpresses your cycle so you dont ovulate, then you take different drugs to tell your body to stimulate as many eggs as possible and then another injection to make you ovulate, then egg collection, transfer then progesterone.
A natural cycle is with no drugs, you are scanned most days to catch ovulation and then egg collected that you would naturally produce that month, then its transferred back in.
Natural modified is natural with a few days of low dose drugs, and then the same as above.
For me, all drugs was frightening, im a person who does things as naturally as possible i dont like going against nature. I think the body is not capable or nourishing so many eggs a lot of the time as we only naturally produce one or two. From looking at what a lot of other people go through, they may get 20 eggs then only end up with a few good ones anyway. Being 40 now and having endo, even with the highest stumulation i would still only produce a few eggs at the most, so we are concentrating on egg quality instead pf quantity, you only need that one good egg.
Choosing to have ivf is no easy desicion and you both need to be ready, i would look at clinics in your area and go to some open evening to see how you feel about it all then. X
I’m 34 now 35 in sept but my partner nearly 40 the cost is worrying too I’m going to try naturally too after a lap.but I may have to even pay private for that I don’t really have the money so don’t know how I’m going to do it I only work part time he works all hours we’ve just been discussing payment now and it’s getting to him and causing arguments already finding it difficult as it’s my issue and not his
Why do you have to pay for your lap? We added to our mortgage so we could afford ivf, we looked into what 3 rounds would cost and decided thats what we would pay for. You can get packages at under 40 where you can get a refund if it doesnt work. It might be your body that has the problem, but its not just your issue and thats not a fair way to look at it. You didnt choose this. If you want a baby together its both your issue, and you should be tackling this together
Because my gp won’t refer me to the specialist and I’ve been told it would be a year wait and it’s getting worse.the ivf plan sounds good I will look more into it
Mine didnt refer me until i said i want a lap done, and the fact i wasnt conceiving either, they did refer me then. You do have to really push it abd if your gp wont listen see a different one
They said I have to an mri first before a lap and they seem to be pushing me towards a surgeon which deals with ablation but I need it excised don’t want to have to deal with it growing back trust me I went in with my pain diary and the surgeon I wanted and he dismissed it so I’m thinking what to do now I really feel like time is against me because I need the lap and I’m trying to conceive as well but now I’m on the pill and it’s affecting my bowl I can’t see a light at the end of the tunnel just yet I really need answers to my misscarrige I think the adhesions must have caused it so that’s another reason I really need a lap if it is adhesions I might not need ivf and just a lap
You do need answers for sure. Excision is better but if you have superficial endo like me it will always grow back cut out or not. If deep seated endo then excision is better, superficial endo grows on top of everything, so you cant cut it out. An mri ive been told will only show if its actually on your bowel. Mine affects my bowel but my endo isnt on it, its really commen for endo women to also have ibs etc.
If you want answers quickly pay for a private consultation. It will be a couple of hundred but it will be specialist you choose and they will answer all your questions, i did this when starting the ivf process. They will evaluate you and write to your gp, your gp cant really argue then or fob you off because the specialist has told them what needs to be done.
I think I’m going to do that? if it’s not on your bowl where is it then Another side ?i bleed on my bowl on my period it comes out there instead so that’s why they suspect and have pains what feel like growths inside and between my rectum and vagine it’s a awful disease also have all the sexual problems aswell I used to go out a lot and be really popular but I’ve lost all my friends since having this disease cause I can’t do things like I used to cause of pain ,my manager also took my job role away as supervisor which I worked hard for I ran a business for a year and half before that
