None or just one blastocyst - any successes?

Dear all,

I have had three ICSI cycles with none or very few blastocysts.

First cycle: 0 out of 6 embryos

Second cycle 1 out of 5 embryos

Third cycle: 1 out of 3 embryos

Normally, you should have one out of three or four embryos surviving to blastocyst, but my results are always way below that.

Has anyone had any success with just one blastocyst surviving? Looking for some much needed hope.

As always, thank you xxxx

I have had 4 rounds. The first two rounds I got 2 blastocysts each time and both times bfn. The third had 2 embryos transferred on day 3 and bfn. But 4th time I had a day three transfer again and I’m 17 weeks pregnant. It shows that you don’t have to get to blastocyst stage for it to work. Good luck xx

Congrats Emma fab news. Can I ask if the embryo were good quality and why they didn’t wait for blast? X

They were good quality. I had a three day transfer the 3rd time as they were not quite developing as fast as they liked and there was only 2 left In the race and the last time I was flying home the day of transfer. I did offer to stay an extra few days and they said it made no difference they should go back where they belong x

Ive seen a few ladies only have one blastocyst and have success in the years that Ive been here Anna. I know its really tough when you have no back up for freezing but hopefully that little one will settle in nicely!! Good luck.xx

I had one round. 27 eggs collected, 10 fertilised and just 1 at blastocyst. She's now a 13 month old beautiful girl. Please don't loose hope.. It only takes one xxx

We had 4 rounds with poor embryo development in all of them so had day two or three transfers. Out of all the other embryos being watched until day 5 in the lab we only ever had one make it to Blastocyst (none last cycle when 11 were being watched) and unfortunately this was very highly fragmented so had to be discarded.

At least two of the embryos transferred over the 4 cycles must have made it as I got pregnant with 1 baby on both our 1st and 4th cycles (sadly had a mmc the first time, but now currently almost 18 weeks).

So even when things look pretty terrible and you’re being told need to look at donor eggs there is always a chance. Don’t give up hope just yet. Wishing you lots of luck 🍀xx

I had 3 rounds only ever got one egg to blastocyst which was frozen. All the others day 3 transfers. After all these failed used my frozen egg which resulted in BFP, it really does only take one. Good luck x

Hi Anna, might it be worth you doing a day 3 transfer next time? I know it's very expensive to have to keep doing the whole thing again when you don't have any frozen - I feel that pain. It might be that they are better with you at day 3 rather than waiting. Sorry it's been disappointing but it looks like your ratios are actually getting better over time!!!
