Embryo Glue...

This is mine and my husbands first IVF, we have been given the option of using Embryo Glue and looking for some advise on if it is worth the extra

Embryo was included on all my transfers and we had 4 fails and 1 success so from my point of view hard to see if the glue made any difference so not sure I’d pay for it if it were me xx

Hi MiskyB. We are going through our second IVF and chose to go with the glue. Our embryos are still growing as I only had my egg collection on Tuesday but praying all goes well and we will have transfer this time. I have read many articles and researches on it, and thou affect on the glue apparently is only minimal, it's better than nothing, right?

Bfp with my fresh transfer that ended in chemical with no glue, bfp with my frostie and glue. Who knows if it works, we will just try anything hey! We only had another one left in the freezer for our nhs cycle so we just thought sod it, £250 is a lot less than self funding a whole cycle! Xxxx

We were told that there was no point in paying for embryo glue for a fresh cycle because it was already included as part of the culture that they used. Maybe this varies from clinic to clinic. Our clinic recommended it for frozen cycles only.

Hiya, we had 3 transfers. We only used glue on the 3rd transfer. we got our BFP from that transfer and our baby girl is currently cosy in her bed. who knows if it works but anything’s worth a try if it eases ur mind 😊 x

Hi there, I wouldn’t personally as I’ve had two bfp’s and two BFN’s with using it. I think it’s all down to luck! 💕 xx

our clinic now includes embryo glue as standard as it has increased their live birth rate statistic significantly enough for them..so based on that I would pay the extra for it xox

Ja we are thinking for the price it is probably worth it to make sure we are doing everything we possibly can... no what ifs! x

My friend is an embryologist so when I asked her she told me this:

"we use it routinely for all our transfers. There’s no strong evidence it improves rates but might benefit certain patients. It’s just a slightly more viscous solution that the embryos are put in to transfer. Haven’t heard of any negative effects & vitrolife the company who make are excellent with their research & development. A lot of private companies do charge quite a bit to use it but I think it’s worth it. It won’t harm your chances."

We took her advice, used it and got a BFP on 1st attempt 🙌🏻 now 30wks pregnant x x x

I guess it's difficult to say if it helps or not as there is so many factors that influence the successful cycle. We used the glue as we thought it's not that much money in the grand scheme of things and we wanted to do everything possible not to regret things later and thing what if... Our miracle is 1 next week!

Doesnt seem to make a difference. But you know you may feel more peace of mind by taking it and less stressed knowing you tried everything.

It worked for me with a FET so I’d use it again if I had to.

It’s not an awful lot of money but if your ivf budget is tight then I can’t see that it would make a massive difference to not use it x

Embryo glue was included in my first fresh transfer and we got a bfp (ended in mmc) so I felt like I had to have it for our frozen transfers too. We went on to get a further negative and then a positive. I have no idea if it helped or not but based on our history I will have it again next time. Deep down I feel like if it’s going to work it will work anyway with or without the glue but if it failed and I didn’t have it I would be thinking what if..?

Really interesting! I wish I’d known about this as I’d definitely have asked for it on my cycles (waiting for test day on Friday for this one - 3rd time and hoping it’ll be lucky! Not feeling symptoms though but you never know!)
