Will my eggs fertilize? What are they doing right now? (She asks herself at 2am)

Had egg collection Weds 23rd. They got 8 eggs which I was pleased with at the time as clinic says they aim for 5-12 which puts me somewhere in the middle. Also due to my PCO i think they were petrified over over stimulating me, which (touch wood) ive shown no signs of. However, reading some posts on here where women have had 12-20 eggs collected has caused doubt to creep in my mind. Its true what they say, comparison really is the thief of joy!

Anyway, i lay here at 2am now unable to sleep worrying about what my embryos (if any) are doing now, and worried that the didnt fertilise. 8 doesnt seem to give me the hope of much buffer if only 2-3 do or even worse - none at all! Our infertility is unexplained so i do feel theres an issue with fertilisation / implantation...

Are these just 2am irrational thoughts? 😫 please can anyone help reassure me? xxx

These are all perfectly normal thoughts to have, but as I have been told before it only takes one, I think 8 eggs is a good number and hopefully reduces your risk of OHSS too. Wishing you lots of luck and good news when you get the phone call to tell you xxxx

8 is a good number... I was told it’s about the quality not the quantity as I was a little disappointed when we only received 7 from EC

Out of which 5 fertilised, 4 made it to day 5 blastocysts and my slow grower made it to day 6 and even ended up hatching 🐣

As the others have said it really doesn’t matter numbers wise, I had 23 collected, 17 fertilised and ended up with two 5 day blasts - both of which have been unsuccessful. We also have unexplained fertility. So really try not to worry about it

Just had the call, only 3 fertilised. I’m so disappointed 😣😭

It’s so hard watching your numbers drop... I’ve been there... but try to stay positive - easier said than done I know! But try... are you going for a 3 day fresh transfer or are you hoping for blastocysts for a frozen cycle?xx

They’ve provisionally booked me in for 3pm tomorrow for transfer but will call in the morning ti re-arrange if they think they need more time. I’m gutted x

Don't loose hope 3 is still 3 keeping everything crossed for you - I definitely found that stage of waiting for the embryologist to call so nerve wracking!!! X
