Egg collection results - Ladies please help!

Ladies, I need some help reassurance as I’m driving myself a little crazy with nerves. I had my egg collection yesterday, 11 eggs were collected out of which 8 were injected with ICSI and 4 have fertilised. Is that normal? Shouldn’t I have had more fertilise? I’d love to say I’m happy but feel nervous. Your thoughts and help please xx

I had 18 collected, out of those only 7 fertilised and from them I got three frozen day 6 blastocysts... it’s really hard watching the numbers drop and I found it really hard but I think sometimes unfortunately that’s just how it goes... I think 4 from 8 is great as that is 50% !! That’s actually good numbers. Me only having 7 I was way below the average of 50% ... stay positive it looks like good numbers to me xx

It sounds completely on track. My clinic explained that out of however many mature eggs they collect they would expect, on average, 50% to fertilise (of course this could be higher but we’re talking averages) and a further 50% of that to go onto blastocyst. So you’re right where you need to be so far.. Good luck xx

Hi Canadawaterchick. I don’t think you’ve done badly at all. You had ICSI for a reason, which was probably due to sperm problems. ICSI will have given you your best chance, and the best sperm have done their job. Hope all continues to go well with your embryos as they mature. Diane

You have 4 beautiful embryos there so you still have a good chance and I know its hard but think more on quality over quantity. Best of luck for your updates.xx

i had 5 follicles, got 5 eggs, 4 fertilised and 3 went for testing, 1 came back as mosaic and I had it transferred on Weds. It is all a gamble wit mother nature, you sound like you have more to work with so keep going and I wish you all the best! It's worth every minute of stress worry excitement fear and despair and i say that with no clue where I am heading. I wish you lots of luck x

I would say four is a great result. On my last round I had 12 follicles, 9 eggs and 3 fertilised. Two were good day 5 blastocysts and one was a perfect day 5 hatching blastocyst. With four you’ve got a good chance and they only need to put one back! Good luck!

Hi. I am pretty much in the same boat as you. We had 11 eggs. 9 Mature and only 4 fertilised with ICSI. We were upset to lose so many overnight but try to stay positive. We had a blastocyst transferred yesterday and one frozen so keeping fingers crossed!
