Hello please has anyone tried or use or is doing acupuncture to ease Hyperemesis Gravidarium (severe morning sickness) ?.

I’m now 18 weeks pregnant, with all day nausea and vomiting since week 8, can’t hold any food or fluid (bland or what so ever), had to stop my prenatal vitamins. Been admitted twice and given 5 liters of IV fluid during my first admission and 13 liters of IV fluid in my second admission 8-4 days ago. Now I am still in same condition.

I have used Zofran, B6, Metroclopramide, Avomine and none is working, they only work for few days after which they will stop working.

I read about Acupuncture and Intralipid and I was thinking I should give this a trial but first want to get advice from experience.

I had to stop work, home all day if not in the hospital, weak, I throw up everything, loosing weight but my baby is growing even now past gestational age lol.

Please advice !!

Hi, I had terrible sickness with my most recent pregnancy. Some days I was vomiting up to 10 x. My HCG levels were very high. I had acupuncture which I had throughout my cycle but felt only very brief relief whilst the needles were in. I always vomited immediately afterwards. The only thing that eventually gave some relief was a combination of cyclizine and ondansetron. I still vomited but was able to leave the house! I have heard of acupuncture really helping people but unfortunately it made very little difference for me x

Hi YellowRuffle. You poor thing, you’re certainly suffering. I don’t think acupuncture can harm you, but mention it to your midwife before trying. Hopefully they’ve tried you with different medication to try and overcome it. See your obstetrician for further advice. Hope something is soon sorted for you. Diane
