I’ve been having a rough few days, been so down and cannot seem to get myself up. Basically been told we would need IVF to have a baby, husband has morphology issues, hasn’t been no changes - just told to give up smoking once he’s been smoke free 6 months we can be referred. Was told I had endo cyst on ovary, but when I last went for scan was told they were no longer there, asked the fertility doctor how this could happen she didn’t know, (haven’t been diagnosed only through internal scans) no other extreme symptoms, bleeding after sex very rare, sometimes painful again not often. She said she doesn’t want to pump me with tablets etc, when she doesn’t think the issue is with me. Had test to check tubes everything ok, periods regular. I don’t know where to turn. All we’ve been told is that’s it IVF. Is there anything we can try at home in the meantime while the hubby gives up smoking. Surely there has to be something we can try at my wits end and it’s getting me so down and depressed. Thank you x

Hi Chloe I'm so sorry your going through it and your feeling so down with it ,thats totally understandable. The waiting is so difficult!! It's just horrid. And for you to have to wait another 6 months for a referral is so hard. We are all here at least for you to talk to !
Morphology is a tough one to work on I think...I'm sure vitamins have helped a lot of people. Maybe some people will have good suggestions on here. Is he taking any? We thought we'd cracked it with getting my husband off some medication and his morphology came back better after that but then on the day of egg collection they really awful again so we had ICIS. I think Sperm changes from one month to another! There are lots of ladies on here who have had successful IVF with ICIS so it is a positive thing, although IVF can seem terrifying.
Can you try and distract yourself as much as possible with a new hobby or course ? I know it seems a bit trivial , but it is all about making the best of the time we have... Xx
Thank you so much. Yeah I think your right the waiting is horrible... and the feeling of not being good enough... what have I done so wrong. It plays with your head so much. I defo think I’m going to look into a course or something xx
Hi Chloe. Lots to worry about I’m sure, and I can understand you feel as though you could do something while waiting. Do give him a good quality multivitamin tablet and extra selenium and zinc. They will help boost the normal shaped sperm he has and will help when you have IVF/ICSI.
Ask him to keep off alcohol too, or cut right down. A healthy diet helps too. Hope all goes well when you get to start your treatment cycle. Diane
He needs to give up ASAP (maybe try Champix to help) a really good multivitamin, like Proxseed. Vit D, Omega 3 and Ubiquibol. A good diet and stick to no more than 14 units of alcohol per week. And (I kid you not) a regular ejaculation cycle. I’d try this and see if they can retest in 3 months.
You’ll be surprised how much you can improve sperm results. My OH went from low motility, count and morphology to ‘normal’ parameters on the big day!! Good luck xx
