Would anyone be able to talk me through the IVF process with frozen embryos please?

Ive just had a fresh cycle, which I found out today was unsuccessful, so I want to look onwards and upwards

Any help would be much appreciated ☺️✨

Hey, sorry to hear your fresh transfer was unsuccessful.

Have you frozen embryos already or will you be doing that on another cycle?

I have some frozen and will be doing a transfer later this year. I think the process is slightly different if you have a medicated or natural transfer but I don’t know much more than that or how it’s decided which you have - possibly depending on your lining and ovulation etc. Sorry I haven’t been able to help but good luck xx

Thankyou ☺️✨

Yes I have 3 frozen ones from this cycle. Ive read a little about it, I just wondered what medications I would need etc. I don’t ovulate on my own either.

Hi I had a frozen embryo cycle short protocol about 2 months ago ,Overall took about 4 weeks from when you get your period to embryo transfer. You start your meds on that day Then 2 weeks wait after FET to pregnancy test x

Hi Fareena, thanks for this. So overall including 2ww it’s about 6 weeks? Would a pregnancy be dated as the first day of your period still? Xx

So sorry to read your post that the fresh cycle didn’t work, it’s just rubbish 😔.

Are you having a medicated FET, if so for me it was a shot of Prostap to downregg day 21, then wait for period, supposed to be within 2 weeks. Mine didn’t arrive so went for scan to check, they decided I’d had a missed period so then 5 days of pessaries and Estrogen 3 times a day then transfer.

Easy peasy and nothing like the IVF meds.

Wishing you lots of luck xx

Thankyou! And thanks so much for the information, its been awful just being left in limbo.

Youre right it sounds so much more straight forward than a full cycle!

Hi. Very sorry to here the outcome for your Fresh cycle.

I think there are a few different protocols out there. Ive had one fresh transfer and now on first FET. Period after fresh transfer started on day 38. My consultantnsaid i could start FET straightaway if i felt ready. So i did. I had oestrogen tablets 3 times a day then 5 days before transfer, started progesterone pessaries alongside the oestrogen. I still take both now exactly the same. Waiting for my hcg bloods a week 2moro..mich shorter protocol

I will say FET is much easier on the body and not half as many appointments, so hopefully ( i feel ) should have more positive outcomes. Fingers crossed for you and best of luck. Xx

Every cycle is different but I'd say tbe main differences between fresh and frozen is that you can control frozen much more. Fresh, you have to do more progress scans and time your trigger EC, ET etc exactly... frozen is more in your hands, can be quicker due to skipping the EC and some of the drugs (you're not having to stimulate egg growth), there's no sperm required (already fertilised in the embryo), and the drugs tend to be a lot kinder (less bloating etc) although I was pretty tired with it.

We had 3 frosties and thought it gave us 3 chances at a FET but unfortunately lost 2 in the thaw, so I would say to be prepared that you can prep and be ready but that the thaw process can be brutal emotionally!

Best if luck! 🍀🍀🍀 xx

Thankyou so much, thats honestly so helpful at a time when my brain feels fried!

Yea the thawing process is the next big scary thing isn’t it 😩 Ive just stopped my pessaries so Im not sure when to expect a bleed/period or anything. Its not a very nice feeling at all, I find im wishing time away in this process which is really sad xx

I've just had my FET protocol through, I start micrognon on the 8th of September to the 10th of October then wait for my period to start, then if it has on the 14th of October I start Oestradiol Valerate for 8 weeks. I have an endometrial scratch 3rd October and a scan 24th of October with transfer booked for the week commencing 28th of October and cyclogest pessaries for 6 weeks as directed by the nurses after the scan. It seems a very long process, but definitely doesn't seem as harsh on your body as a fresh cycle, plus no injections, so that has to be a bonus. Hope this helps xx

Thankyou so much for sharing!

Oh wow it sounds like such a long process 😩 Like crazy long!! There seems to be a fair few different protocols so Im interested to see what my clinic will offer me.

Best of luck to you 💗✨
