Sensitive post - miscarriage questions

I had my 2nd follow up scan at the EPU yesterday for them to confirm if my pregnancy was viable or not. We knew it wasn’t from the other scans I’ve had and I have been spotting and bleeding since the 2nd August. We got confirmation that the pregnancy sac was now gone so we can now try and move on. What I was a bit confused on was that she said I still had some clots and they wanted to rescan me in a week to make sure it had all gone naturally. I completely understand this but since then I have stopped bleeding only have a tiny tiny bit of brown blood when wiping. Does this mean that if I don't bleed again I haven’t passed everything and they will need to do an operation? I’m bit confused by clots and pregnancy tissue if the sac has gone. The hospital wasn’t clear and I was too upset to ask at the time.

Sorry hun 😥 so have you passed clots and pregnancy tissue & heavy bleeding before that scan? They might have meant its non viable not meaning the sac has gone maybe meaning there’s nothing there? and you’ll pass pregnancy tissue and clots then come back for a re scan. Could that be what they meant?

Thanks for your reply. At my last scan on 30th July I had the sac and 2 yolk sacs but no baby. I wasn’t bleeding before then but a few days later on 2nd Aug I started bleeding and have had heavy red blood and clots over the last week so we were not surprised at the scan yesterday that the sac was gone but I was just confused about them still seeing clots and since then my bleeding stopping.

Right ok tbh if you’ve stopped bleeding I’d guess it was over unless you start again but definitely go for your next follow up scan just incase.

I am afraid I carried on bleeding for ages and then demanded a scan and there was some tissue still there, it meant my body didn’t realise it was over even though it was and the sac had already gone. Have you got negative pregnancy tests yet? That’s the biggest indicator. I would go for the scan as closure or nothing else. From experience it can go on for months and it’s super that they are being so diligent with you albeit really really horrible you are having to go through all this and think you are super strong xx

I don’t have any advice, but just wanted to say how sorry I am. I’ve been there and the wait after the first scan is torture and then your heart is still broken when they confirm it 💔 Sending you a massive hug xx

When we had our first ivf miscarriage, I’d had the main part of the miscarriage, but at the next scan it showed an anechoic area on ultrasound which they didn’t know what it was, so arranged for a follow up scan.

The next couple of days, I literally had a small amount of brown spotting and apparently that’s what it was..

Thank you. Maybe it is something like that. I’m hoping the very light brown spotting I’m having it the last little bit. Xx
