After a week of drama; two failed sweeps due to baby’s heartbeat being on the high side, and being in hospital all day Tuesday (6th) on a drip and having to be monitored and also being in hospital all day today (Thursday 8th) for the same reason, I was rushed to theatre earlier for an emergency C Section as baby “wasn’t happy”. They had struggled all day to fit me with a cannula so weren’t able to stabilise her heart rate with fluids. I was going in for induction on the 9th anyway..
Meet Mary-Elizabeth Evalyn born by an emergency C Section at 9:54pm weighing 7lb6oz 😍
We’re both doing well, although I’m very tired, battered, bruised and quite sore now the anaesthetic has worn off.
Still can’t quite believe we are parents!!! 😳🤭😅🤪😁😍

My biggest advice is to sleep whenever Mary is sleeping to catch on sleep. My health visitor advised me although we are no longer pregnant obviously after having a baby we are not “normal women!” & it takes about 6 weeks after birth for your body to get back to normal- maybe even longer after a c section. That’s pretty major surgery bless you wishing you a good recovery.

My best advice is to take each day as it comes, breathe in every precious moment ( believe me they don’t stay small for long and change so quickly!) and above all don’t expect too much of yourself. I got upset because, despite following forceps, cut and a tear, I struggled up my stairs like an old lady even after 2 weeks or couldn’t walk more than 15 minutes without getting exhausted. I totally underestimated how long recovery takes let alone adjusting to being a mamma. Gentle baby steps and enjoy!! 🥰🥰❤️

Most of you know the difficult journey I’ve had in getting to this point.. I’m not going to lie, it’s been the hardest challenge I ever experienced in my 39 years of life but it’s made me a stronger and more resilient person because of it. When this journey kicks you, hard, and you feel like you have nothing left to give, lick your wounds, stagger to your feet and then get up and carry on with the plan, even if that plan is a new plan - don’t ever let it beat you or make you think you’re not worthy or that you’re not “enough” because you are. Baby or no baby, you matter. I always believed that.
Pregnancy hasn’t been easy, physically I didn’t have an easy one, mentally, in some ways it was even harder. The birth ended up being traumatic, all my best laid plans out the window. I cried today and I cried yesterday for the pain I’m in, for how useless I feel - physically, because this isn’t the start I imagined it would be. Before a C Section I thought it would be the easy option but trust me when I say this; it isn’t easy. It’s bloody hard. I didn’t know how hard, so whether you opt for one or have to have one, do not feel guilty. It is not the “easy” option.
I have also cried tears of gratitude for a time that I never thought I’d see. For how beautiful my little girl is, she really is perfect. Silly thing is that she still doesn’t feel real; she’s like this eating, pooping, sleeping, crying little doll. Being a mummy, a family, will take a while to sink in. I do know this though; I love her. With all my heart. I’ve loved her for a long time.
Good luck to you all. I sincerely hope that everyone here has found or will find their own happiness in whatever form that takes. This isn’t goodbye, I’ll be hanging around (like a bad smell lol) if you’ll still have me because I’d be honoured.

Lovely news! Congratulations! It sounds like she was just causing a little bit more drama before she made her entrance! I remember you from when I started IVF.
I had a similar experience, 5 days of induction and then an emergency c section. Not easy but when you've been through IVF I think you can handle anything! Just make sure you take it easy and don't do too much with your scar for the first 6 weeks. 8/8 is significant in that it's the "lions gate" in astrology, one of the most lucky days of the year and you certainly got your lucky day!
