Back in December, I was put on levothyroxine 50, once a day. I went back three months later and levels were back to normal, been today and the doctor has said they are a little bit high, I’ve been getting feelings of my heart beating too fast, she said I’m getting too much, and will be lowering it in three weeks. Has anyone had anything similar happen? X

not Had similar but wanted to share this, my levels we’re in range but too high for pregnancy. My gp wanted to put me on 50mg but my fertility doctor said this is too High and now I take 25mg daily which has lowered my levels and I’m thankfully now consistently within range. Why do you have to wait 3 weeks to Lower the dose? All the best to you X
Thank you so much for replying. That actually makes sense. She said the reason she put me on 50 was because I’m under fertility, I’ve been ok but recently been getting chest pains and heart beating fast, she said that I have to take one 50 every other day, for three weeks see if that helps because my bloods are being done in 3 weeks. She mentioned I may have to be lowered onto 25 daily. I was also told to take the tablet before blood test by the doctor but now I’ve read online u shouldn’t take it before. Do u know anything about this x
25mg sounds like it could be a better dose for you. I was the same before my blood test, I’d read online that you shouldn’t take the dose beforehand but my fertility clinic said it was fine to do so. It’s so hard to know what to do for the best isn’t it! All the best to you and hope your symptoms ease up soon x
I’m on 50 mg too every day. Occasionally I do feel my heart beating a little fast but I have my thyroid levels checked regularly and levels seem to be fine. It’s a bit weird!
Hi, have you had your antibodies tested at some point for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?
With Hashimoto's even on 50mcg slight heart palpitations are very common.
It's important to have a full panel tested. If your GP/clinic refuses the tests I would buy a home kit like Thrivia and get it all checked, the test measures ferritin,b12 and vit D levels also.
TSH should be lower than 2.5 if TTC and tests should be arranged every 3-4 in pregnancy.
It's good you are looking into this.

Thank you. I asked about that before and she said no she had tested for that, however on my paperwork it states acquired Hypothyroidism and I looked it up and it states it’s Hashimoto I’m so upset I’ve really had enough of this, I keep getting fobbed off, I feel absolutely terrible right now and I feel like no one is listening. I don’t know where to turn x

There is no other way trust me this will be best £60 spent, actually I have a coupon coz did Thriva recently, I am happy to share it with you just send me a private message.
This is what I would do:

2. Get results and post everything on Thyroid UK healthunlocked
3. Share results with your GP AND your fertility clinic
4. Demand a referral to see Endocrinologist from your GP. If refused then ask for a private referral.
Test, test, test and demand explanation. Stay strong!
