2WW following embryo transfer

Fellow-IVFer profile image

Hi everyone, I am brand new to IVF and blogs so here goes. I am 4 days post embryo transfer and not feeling anything. No cramps, no nothing! I am scared to death because I only had two embryos make it to day 5 blastocyst and both are grade C therefore, below average. As a result of this my embryologist encouraged me to transfer both as they would not survive thawing if frozen. Has anyone else had no symptoms during their 2WW and had a BFP? And has anyone had below average quality embryos transferred and had BFP? Thank you ❤

Just wanted to say I am also in my 2ww so will be thinking of you. I have never had a BFP so no experience sorry but I have seen lots of posts from people who have had no symptoms and had a BFP xx

OMG are you 🤗🤗🤗 I am routing for you Core 🤞🏼 it's so scary isn't it... 🙈 Was you informed the quality of your embryos? The fact that my embryologist suggested I transfer both my embryos as the risk of twins is low suggested to me that she is not expecting implantation to occur 😢 I haven't thought of anything else since xx

Thanks! I know you just feel either all your dreams will come true or be shattered at the end. We weren’t told on the day of the transfer but I have asked previously and be told. Is this your first transfer?xx

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to Core

I feel heart broken already and I havnt even had a BFN yet. I was so optimistic until my embryologist stated my embryos were of below average 😔 Yes this is my first transfer. What about you? I didn't quite understand the last bit of your previous message 🙈 Sorry lovely x

This is our 3rd transfer. I have heard that grading doesn’t mean that much so maybe try and forget about the grading for now? What medication are you on xx

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to Core

Oh really, is it the third transfer from the same cycle? I was on Bemfola and Cetrotide which is the short protocol. I am now just utilising the progesterone pessaries. What about you? X

Core profile image
Core in reply to Fellow-IVFer

Yes from the same cycle, we were just progesterone pessaries and oestrogen tablets but this time have also added lubion injections, painful but will be worth it if we get our BFP!xx

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to Core

Oh really, I havnt been advised to use anything else 🤔 Hopefully that doesn't go against me. Have you been advised why the others may have failed? Xx

Core profile image
Core in reply to Fellow-IVFer

They said there’s no evidence it’ll help but I just wanted to try something different after 2 failures. You’re defo on the right medication for the first transfer, it seems to work for lots of people with that medication. They said it was just bad luck which isn’t particularly helpful 🙁 xx

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to Core

Ahh really, I hope to God it works for me too. Bad luck 🙄🙄 so unhelpful tut. How many cycle are you funded for? This is another thing that scars me to death. We are funded for one cycle, we have used both embryos and obviously have none frozen so if it fails, we better get working that over time 😩 I sound so negative don't I 🙈 My embryologist has really deflated me 😢 Well I hope you are third time lucky, you deserve it 💋X

Core profile image
Core in reply to Fellow-IVFer

Thank you, we are really lucky we are funded for 2 cycles but that includes any Frosties so at least that’s one thing less to worry about. I’ll keep fingers crossed for you, I really don’t think grading matters too much ours were top grades and didn’t make it xx

Don't focus on the grading. My friend had a 3cd embryo and he's now a perfect little 4 year old!

OMG really 🤗👌🏼 That is amazing. I am 5 days post embryo transfer today, I really hope they have settled in and I end up just like your friend 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Wish me luck 😘 Xx

I was sore first few days but that was a left over pain from the EC as they did my ET on day 2. For the next week I felt nothing and started to panic that I had no symptoms. Then 2 days prior to OTD I had cramps and started to panic even more as I thought AF was coming. Turns out I got a BFP and so I had nothing to worry about all along. Either way, pains or no pains, it’s easy to talk yourself into something being wrong when it’s all fine.

Also, my sister and I are both ivf babies. The embryo that made my sister 36 years ago was low quality and they told my mum not to hold out hope. She turned out perfect! So, you’re definitely still in the game. Good luck and I hope it all works for you! xx

Hi FirstTimerICSI thank you so much for your beautiful reply. It made me cry 🙊 But it doesn't take much at the moment if I'm honest 🤣 What an amazing outcome for you, I am so happy for you 💃🏻 And OMG I love you and your sister lol. Thank you for your kind words, they have really lifted me, I needed that 💋 Xx

It only takes one good embryo my lovely! And sometimes even the top quality, highest grade embryos don't result in a viable pregnancy. I miscarried in December after transferring a top notch 5AA hatching blastocyst 🤷🏽‍♀️ I honestly believe it's just luck. I really hope one (or both) of your little guys clings on and holds tight x

Fingerscrossed38 profile image

Very true! My top graded embryos ended up being abnormal when pgs tested. I wouldn't focus on grading.

I'm currently 4w+6 pregnant following my first frozen embryo transfer of 2 embryos, waiting for my scan in just under 3 weeks to find out if one or two have stuck 😳 excited but incredibly anxious! Good luck to you lovely x

Fellow-IVFer in reply to Kitcat12

Yayyyyy this is amazing news ❤ What a beautiful story to set me up for the day 👌🏼 Do you have any tips on how to produce top grade embryos? Hopefully I won't need the advice 💭🤞🏼 Xx

Kitcat12 profile image
Kitcat12 in reply to Fellow-IVFer

To be honest I think I am lucky to have age on my side, my partner and I ate both 30. We didn't take any extraordinary measures to produce good embryos, just took prenatal vitamins and watched our diet a little. We are very lucky to have got 5 good embryos from our first cycle.

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to Kitcat12

Oh wooow, that's fantastic 💃🏻 Well as you have probably read, we had both of our grade C blastocyst transfer 5 days ago. We had nothing to freeze and we have no more funding 😔 So I hope to God this is the one for us 💭🙏🏼 I bet you are over the moon 😘 Xx

I'm thrilled of course but also very anxious and worried having miscarried once before. I will keep everything crossed for you and hope that your cycle is a success! Look forward to seeing your updates x

I’ve recently just had failed cycle, had two top quality embryos transfer and sadly day before testing a small bleed, and then had the miss. Have to go see consultant July, have one frozen from this cycle to use.

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to Barneyboo16

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I now understand that quality isn't always the reasoning for a fail 😔 I wish you all the luck with your frozen embie 😘 How long have you been advised to wait between cycles? Xx

Barneyboo16 profile image
Barneyboo16 in reply to Fellow-IVFer

They say one full proper bleed so will wait till o know more about when that may be x

Hey, good luck to you. I hope IVF works for you. I know so many people who didn't feel anything this far. Therefore, it is t necessary that everyone feels and goes through the same symptoms. Just make sure to take care of yourself. Dont take too much stress! It only takes one to make things work out so stay positve.

Hi,

I’m also 5dp5dt today and haven’t had any symptoms apart from a few twinges and very sore boobs which may just be the progesterone. I’m obsessing over symptoms too and worrying that I’ve not had many. It’s so difficult. I had one frozen grade 4bb/c blastocyst transfered. I’ve researched a lot about grading as I wasn’t happy with the “c” part of the grading but they can and do stick and make pregnancies. I haven’t had my BFP yet but I’ve read many success stories. I’m losing my mind a little but all we can do is wait and hope 🤞

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to HopeTTC18

Hi HopeTTC18 congratulations on your transfer 😘 Snap, my boobs are extremely sore however, I truly believe it is the progesterone 🙄 What are you doing with yourself? Do you have a special diet etc? Is this your first transfer? I am routing for the both of us 🤗❤ xx

HopeTTC18 profile image
HopeTTC18 in reply to Fellow-IVFer

I had a transfer in January of a day 3 embryo but it didn’t stick. That was all we got from that cycle. So this is my second transfer but it’s the first one that counts for me as it’s a blastocyst. I started eating healthier and mostly organic a couple of months ago. No alcohol and only one coffee a day. Eating lots of Brazil nuts. Lots of water and I’ve also had accupuncture for this cycle. Feel like I’ve tried everything I can.

I’m having pessaries and estrogen patches and have a progesterone injection every 3 days. Fingers crossed 🤞 for both of us

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to HopeTTC18

Oh wooow, it sounds you are very prepared this time, good on you girl 👌🏼 I have been having 1:4 pineapple, 1 glass of pomegranate juice and Brazil nuts everyday. I am on progesterone pessaries and that's it. They havnt prescribed anything else. Oh woow, I wish I had looked into accupuncture 💭 I havnt had alcohol for about 1 month and I am telling you now..... I need a glass of wine 🤣 However, I'm hoping I won't be able to for 9 months 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 X

HopeTTC18 profile image
HopeTTC18 in reply to Fellow-IVFer

You’re not missing out on the progesterone injections. They are very sore. The Dr only prescribed them to me as I was asking for absolutely everything that could help with implanting. I also wanted prednisone to stop any immune rejections of embryos but I couldn’t get him to agree to that yet. When is your test day? Mine is next Thursday so just one more week to go and I’m not testing early 😬

Fellow-IVFer profile image
Fellow-IVFer in reply to HopeTTC18

Mine is next Friday but I have bought cheap ones to do over this weekend 🙈 There's nothing in the world I want more than this 💭 I will be thinking of you all week 😘 I hope we both get the news we want and deserve 🤞🏼 X

First of all. Stop judging the grading. It’s an art, not a science! Most ladies I know have fallen pregnant from embies that have been classified for the bin, but choose to go ahead with a transfer , and have healthy bubbas now. So just focus on the fact you have embies xx yay you!!! ❤️

there is no normal... so your normal may not be anybody’s else’s normal...xx❤️ let’s hope no symptoms is good for you x

I’m yet to have a transfer as I wasn’t well enough to have a fresh one, but I have two embies as well... and one couldn’t be frozen ☹️ so your not alone x stay positive

I am sending love and warmth your way! Please keep us in the loop with how your feeling, and maybe you may help someone else in turn with your questions xxx

It's hard not to when a senior embryologist isn't expecting implantation off a grade C. I do however hear what you are saying and hopefully it works for me like you say. Good luck and I hope all works out for you 🙏🏼❤ x
