Negative test result - anyone had a positive after?

We’ve just had a negative test result after our two week wait - our fourth failed attempt.

We have been asked by our clinic take another test tomorrow to be doubly sure - has anyone ever had a negative test then followed up by a positive? I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be possible but the follow up test is just prolonging the agony

Well chances of a positive after initial negative are low but it's not completely impossible. However, I doubt the change can take place overnight if it really is there.... not sure why the clinic asked you to check right away next morning. Didn't you used FMU this time for the HPT? It takes 50 hrs for the HCG to double up past the 2ww phrase. In reasoning, there's only way you might get a line if you haven't had it when you check first if you checked early... so allowing enough time for the HCG to double before checking again is I believe necessary. I hope it turns up as BFP when you check though. Wish you all the luck in the world! <3<3<3

I hope the results change. I can understand how hard this must be for you. However, stay positive. I hope you will get positive soon. Sending baby dust your way. Get the test done so that your mind is at ease. All the prayers are with you.

It happened to me. Negative stick test on the Sunday. Nearly didn't bother with the blood test on the Monday. My beta HCG was 147 on the Monday and 272 on the Wednesday.

My clinic have a rule that if you get a negative on OTD (13dp5dt) and you haven’t started bleeding then you carry on with meds for another 3 days then test again. I said the same as you about it being too late to change and asked if it had ever happened. The nurse I spoke to said it was extremely rare but it had happened once before to one of her patients so it was worth it just in case. The first cycle they asked me to do this I did carry on with the meds but still ended up with a negative. The second cycle I just knew it hadn’t worked and the meds were making me feel sick so I told them I wasn’t going to carry on with the meds and stopped on OTD. They said it was my decision and didn’t really try and push me to carry on. So I would say it’s your decision whether to carry on or whether to put this cycle behind you.

I dont want to give you false hope but i had what we think was a faulty box of tests last year. My hospital advice is if bfn on OTD stop progesterone then take another if no bleeding within 72 hours. Not sure why they would say test next day though. Last year it was 2 weeks after OTD before i found out and i was shocked. Everything measusred fine at 7 week scan so thats why we think it was faulty test. I have pèed on a lot of sticks over the last few years and it was only those 2 that were wrong so im sure this isnt a common thing.
