Flying after transfer

Hi Ladies! Anyone flew 3 days after transfer (FET) and had success? My flight will be 3 hours long. My clinic says it's OK but would be great to hear success stories. Thank you!

Hi, I had a FET with egg donor. I flew the night of the transfer and 5 days later and flying again this week. I am 10 days post transfer. This morning I had a positive pee on stick test. My official blood test is tomorrow. I didn't have trigger shots since they were donor eggs so not sure I'm at risk for a false positive. We will see == lots of prayers. Good luck to you!

I flew home from Athens to the UK 5 days post transfer and got a BFP. I did however lose it at 6 weeks but flying is definitely fine. Lots of ladies go abroad for treatment!xx

Hi KatDub. It is always a worry to know what to do for the best when flying after treatment, or early on in pregnancy. Obviously you are best guided by what your clinic recommends. However, I do speak with couples that go to the USA for treatment and travel back to the UK on the same, or next day after embryo transfer. Most have gone on to achieve their pregnancy, some don’t. Couples who go to Spain etc for donor treatment fly back very soon afterwards, unless they incorporate their treatment in a holiday. Most couples that conceive naturally do not know that they are pregnant for a month at least – loads of those are regular “fliers” too. I am sorry if I have confused you further, but if you do decide to fly and the treatment does not work this time, then you should not “beat yourself” up about the fact that you flew, as there are so many factors to consider. Hope this helps and my best wishes go with you with your forthcoming treatment. Diane

Hi Diane, thanks very much for replying and a lot to consider there. It is actually a holiday to fly to 3 days after the transfer. I think having a quality time in the two weeks after transfer might do good. I guess I'm convincing myself to go ;)

Hi katdub

I flew back from Spain 2 days after the transfer, the doctor said I could have flown that day but it was such good weather there that I thought I stay a bit longer

It was a short 2 hour flight. I always think that they say that it is good to keep the blood flowing so I had a leisurely walk in the morning before flying and moved around the airport, looking at shops etc and got up in the plane one or twice to move my legs.

Wish you the best with your transfer xxx

Hi Monsoon, thanks for your reply and the tips! Yes, I will definitely try and keep the circulation going and will also be on blood thinner injections so hopefully blood clotting won't be a risk. I assume you had success with that cycle?

Hi

Unfortunately not 😞But for the previous transfer I stayed from the transfer day to the day after the beta, like 10 days and it was also unsuccessful so have been referred to have the ERA test as the doctor keeps saying he can't understand why they have not worked. xxx

Aww sorry to hear that Monsoon. A failed transfer is so tough to process. I had my first one in March and it was a PGS normal embryo too... I've just started meds for the ERA cycle and planning to transfer in June. I hope we will both succeed next time! xx
