3rd failed IVF cycle - what can I do next? Devastated

We have unexplained fertility but we think I have mild PCOS and my husband has high dna fragmentation (which went away with shorter abstinence periods). We are currently with the lister clinic.

Immune results are all ok although very slight elevation of cd3

We have had x2 fresh cycles each transferring a 5bb blastocyst - used ICSI. Each time we had an ok number of eggs but low number of successful blastocysts.

We just had a failed medicated FET with extra progesterone (Lubion) and oestrogen and this time we tried and Accupuncture

We have x2 frozen embryos left although we have been told not great quality

Should we switch clinics? Any other advice? Or any good recommends for clinics in London? I was thinking argc or zita west?

Thank you- would you recommend them for complex cases like mine?

They seem to have great knowledge and I trust what they have told me . I’ve just started treatment with one of their clinic . I think they do open evenings and mini consultations . It’s worth a look . I travel 100 miles to the one I’m using purely from their great reviews and the staff are so helpful and they really take their time to help

Hi Spshope, first of all I'm so sorry for your failed attempts. It's so hard! I don't have any advice but we're in the same boat. We've had 3 failed transfers and our third cycle is looking horrendous with only 1 fertilised egg (ET tomorrow but not holding my breath). I'm also not happy with our clinic. they seem far too relaxed about everything and not worried at all, they're probably thinking we can always use DE if it doesn't work. I'd be interested to see which clinics ppl suggest as we are also looking to change for the next cycle. X

Hi Kaylon, Thank you. I am devastated and just been crying all day. The whole process is gut wrenching. Sounds like changing clinic might be a good idea for both of us - I’m also now wondering if I should think about going abroad. I really hope that embryo works for you! And if not I’m sure others have told me that some minor changes in their protocol has really helped them get more embryos xXx

Oh Spshope I wish I could give you a hug. Sending you a virtual one anyway!

I'm a little bit hopefully again after what I've heard today about these different triggers you can use to help maturity of the eggs. Also mild IVF can be an option for ladies with low AMH sometimes as it gives you less but better quality eggs. So got a few things to try before I move on to DE.

We are also thinking UK or abroad. Somehow I think abroad they're sometimes a bit further with their research and willing to try things which I'm totally up for. We'll see.. x

Hi so sorry for your bad news.

Hope you feeling better day by day. I too had a failed icsi 😭 my preg test was 21st but on evening of 18th i started to bleed very heavily all hell broke loose in my mind and then nothing iv gone total numb. I cant cry and i dont know what to do. I have been using my clinic for 10years but no success. I use them as im familiar with staff.

But im confused wether to approach a different clinic or not. Will it really make a difference? Is it me? I keep thinking im A neg blood group so does my body reject embryos as my last embryo was grade1, Or am i just making diagnosis in my head?

I hope you are ok Kazz. I’m so sorry. I am going to switch from the lister to the argc. They seem to be more focused on complex cases although they have an aggressive reputation... I don’t know anymore but will keep people posted on my experiences. I hope you are ok xXx

Hi spshope, how are you finding ARGC? We’re going to switch clinics and Lister was my first choice but ARGC is 2nd. We’re 2 failed ICSI cycles down with our current clinic. I also have mild PCO (probably not the syndrome though) and we’ve just been advised to have dna fragmentation testing as our male factor issues may still be the root cause of our lack of success. So it seems our case is getting more complex than we realised.... hope you’re doing well xx

Hello, so we are starting with argc - they make you do a monitoring cycle before you start (monitor your natural cycle) so we thought we would see how we find them for that and then decide whether to go with them or stick with the lister. We also saw Dr Rehan Salim at Hammersmith hospital who was very good but he is too far for us to go to and that hospital is a maze!!! I think he was worth having a consultation with though. He recommended the lister despite our fail attempts but I think when it is truly unexplained than more monitoring may be good and the argc offer that. My husband has the fragmentation test and he has”d high fragmentation with no cause (they scan the testes and look at the sperm again to test for some known causes). They told him to ejaculate frequently to improve quality (which worked when he retested and got normal results) but other than that nothing else to do. You can ask him to take anti-oxidants like proxeed (lister recommended that). We also had our vitamin d levels checked as argc want to see that, my husbands was low so we are both taking supplements for that too. It’s all so hard isn’t it. Which clinic are you with now?xXx
