Frozen transfer

Hi ladies (and the evening occasional gent)

This round I am doing a freeze all so fingers crossed there will be some embies to then do a FET. I’ve never done a frozen transfer before-do I need meds for it? Do they have to co-ordinate it with my cycle or do I just get meds to thicken my lining at whatever time suits? Any help or information or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks.x

You can do a natural or medicated cycle. Your clinic normally suggests which is right for you. I’ve only done medicated and I had patches to thicken the lining, injections to keep my ovaries quiet then progesterone pessaries x

Hey Sharon, hope you're well! Clinics do things a few different ways. Ive done two of them:-

No1:- Down regulation by either prostap, buserelin injections, nasal spray to make you bleed and put your body into menopause and thin your lining. You then take estradiol which can be patches or progynova tablets to increase your lining. Once at a good thickness they can start progesterone and do transfer around 5 days later.

No2: - Start progynova in line with your own cycle so after AF roughly on day 2 you start the estradiol to thicken your lining and once lining is thick, onto progesterone then transfer. In my opinion this is much easier on your body, down regulation sucks!

There is the option to do a completely natural transfer (no meds) where you time transfer for the same time as your ovulation so this is heavily dependent on doing OPK sticks and maybe a scan to check for ovulation. I havent done this but have seen a few others do this.

Hi Sharon. I'm having my FET tomorrow with only one pgs tested embryo left. I am undergoing this in the clinic so my coordinator provides me with all the necessary info. She explains everything, step by step, helps me with all the questions I have, with my protocol and schedule for taking meds. I had a long protocol, bcps, a diferelin injection to reschedule my periods and then, progynova, aspecard, metipred, some vitamins and folic acid. All these pills I was prescribed by the doc. I got positive scan results and now, I am patiently waiting for my FET date. As I am provided with everything I need I can not to worry about this. Thanks to my coordinator I am okay and know what to expect. I can fully rely on her.

I've always done Cinderella's Option 2 whenever I've had frozen transfers. x
