Ivf abroad. Can I buy the medication here with the prescription they give me?

Hi ladies. Hope you are all ok.

I am looking at ivf abroad for my 3rd cycle and just need some advice from anyone who has done this. One of the options they given me with regards to the medication is buy the drugs from them or they will send me a prescription to get the drugs here. Obviously it’s going to be a private prescription. But can you do that? Buy your drugs? Where from? What do you do? Does it work out cheaper? Or is it just a pain doing that?

Any information would be much appreciated so I can look further into it.

Yes you can buy them from Asda or a company called Stork. Best to do your homework on which is cheaper as it changes x

I am not sure. I haven't ever been given the option of getting them from the clinic x

I get my medication from Ali's Chemist in London. However its usually my clinic that email my prescription to them and copy me in. I just ring them, pay for it and it gets posted out to me. 93 Watney St, Shadwell, London E1 2QE.xx

I had IVF abroad and I brought the medication there too as it was much cheaper than the UK . I did have to get a private prescription once and it cost me double the amount in UK. Good luck with your treatment.

Hi I went to Barcelona. I was very fortunate and it worked first time as I’m now 22 weeks pregnant. I would defiantly try and look into the cost of the drugs abroad if you can. I suppose it also depends on which drugs you are prescribed. Also it may depend on which country you have the treatment I was on patches and progesterone pessaries , in Spain they were under €5 each box UK They £28 roughly the progesterone were €40 for 90 over here you get 30 for £30 obviously prices will change . The private prescription cost me 3 times the amount here.

Am buying what I need here and like Cinderella said Ali chemist is the leading chemist for ivf drugs when having treatment abroad. The rest I think I will buy from the clinic if we need to

I think you have your answers but my clinic abroad have previously sent the prescription straight to stork or to Ali's I hsbe then paid them arranged delivery,pick up.
