Hi all, is immature egg consider a bad egg and has no chance to mature? Anyone experienced with immature egg after they collected and what did they do? Would they try to mature it on the lab?

From my experience, they can’t fertilise an immature egg. It has to be mature and if it is immature you need to be given different medication, they can’t grow it in the lab, only an embryo x

Yes they can’t but my clinic said they will try to mature it on the lab to see if it works. Not sure if they tried to give me false hope.

I am sure they wouldn’t given you false information. Perhaps they have advance technology, but I have never heard of it before. Would be great if they can do that as my mature egg rate is below average x

Perhaps. And only one single egg managed to collect and it’s immature. Don’t know what to feel or how to feel. Feel like a whole building collapsed under my shoulder. I’ve got no Fallopian tube, no eggs. And don’t even know where to begin to find egg donor.

I am so sorry to read this. I have felt the same as you. I am also having my Fallopian tube removed in a few weeks. This is a long, long journey.

First, ask your consultant about trying long protocol or different medication.

Don’t give up. Try not to rush into looking at donors in a panic. Write down a timeline and where your boundaries are (budget etc) and put a plan in place.

If you want your own family, it will happen. Whatever it takes.

Take it one day at a time x

Also...remember it only takes one. Each cycle is different. My first cycle I got no blastocysts and I was devastated. My second cycle was slightly different and we got one.

Don’t give up x

Thanks for your support. This is my 2nd cycle of ivf and they only change the medication and double the trigger shot. 1st cycle 8days and 2nd is 10 days long. Not sure what other protocol could they offered me. I have really low AMH. Not sure what else can I do or if I can go thru that again.

I know what you mean. My consultant wanted me to have tons of egg collections before my surgery. I said no. I just couldn’t cope with the medication and pain of not getting any viable embryos. It hurts like nothing else.

I know there are two types of protocol, worth asking which one you were on.

There is also another option: do another cycle using half your eggs and half donor eggs. That way you get another chance.

I really feel your pain. I never ever imagined this could be my life. I just assumed it would happen.

Try and be kind to yourself and then, when you are ready, start to explore all your options. There are lots of options to have the family you want x

Seems easy but to walk that path is ain’t what we signed for.

I did my surgery to removed both tube before proceed to 2nd cycle which is what my doctor suggested but I think it cost me no viable eggs as time is the essence with me. Low AMH. If I know what would happened, I would have collect eggs before go for the surgery.

I couldn’t use my eggs combine donor egg as I don’t have any eggs. If you read my previous post about my 1st ivf, I had 3 eggs collected, all three not mature and one managed to mature but failed during fertilization. And now my 2nd cycle and only one egg and it’s immature.

Keep asking myself why no good news for me anymore. One bad news after another and to hear others so easy to get pregnant, devastated me and my husband.

in reply to MRSrob

All I can is that I am sorry...I really hope you get some good news soon...

Immature eggs are not allowed to be fertilised unfortunately. They cant tell which eggs are mature until they see them under the microscope. Im not sure if clinic try to mature them or if they are discarded, it may vary from place to place. You could always ask?!xx

Just found this link that would suggest that they cant do much with immature eggs....

Thanks for the link. My last ivf they tried to mature it and it does but failed during fertilization stage. So not sure how it actually works. But I do know about IVM.

Hi, most of my eggs where immature unfortunately after egg collection in feb. They said this was a combination of medication and egg quality. They are increasing my dose of medication and giving me a double trigger shot as they said this helps mature them. They said they can’t mature them in the lab. The consultant also said DHEA may help so I’m going to give it a try before next cycle. Hope everything works out for you xx

Hi, yes I taken DHEA 2 months prior ivf and it seems has no effect for me at all. I even had double trigger shots and not working at all too. Really depressing. Good luck to you
