I’ve been told I need to have a hysteroscopy due to fluid found on my womb after two scans.
My consultant informed me that I can start the Microgynon pill and get the hysteroscopy done whilst I’m on the pill. I contacted the clinic today to let them know I was starting today as instructed and I get email from the nurse telling me that the consultant said I’m not to start treatment until after the hysteroscopy scan. This was news to me as she told me the opposite previously. The nurse said I have to start treatment afterwards incase they need to take a biopsy, as the pill will thicken the lining of the womb.
Went home to tell hubby who indicating that I’m rushing things and being irrational for being upset about being misinformed. It’s upsetting that literally nobody gets how your feeling or how to comfort you apart from ladies experiencing the same.
I’m disappointed for this further delay and all the misinformation provided by the clinic. every time I call I get told something different, or new about my scans etc feeling fed up!

Not surprised you feel this way! It can feel isolating being your own advocate and keeping up with medical knowledge, and liasing between the different medical professionals. Hope all goes well with the scan, and that you can proceed soon with treatment !
Hi Militarywife. So sorry to hear of this confusion, but I agree with the email from the fertility nurse, as you need your womb to be in your "normal" condition prior to any biopsy taken. the endometrial biopsy is one of the features of having a hysteroscopy to ensure a correct diagnosis is formed. Annoying to have the delay, but best to get it right, so well done for querying it. Good luck! Diane
Thanks for the advice Diane, I was just disappointed as I was due to start the pill that day and had been misinformed by the consultant. I've now managed to get my hysteroscopy booked in for next week so im hoping I can start the pills at the end of next month which will have only delayed me by one month. I'm also interested to see what the hysteroscopy discovers as ive always had major issues with extremely painful periods.
yes you are right to be annoyed it,s all to conman though wife was told she MUST have a biopsy/hysteroscopy before she can anything hormonal like Microgynon pill but gyne said im in charge you can have any pill you want. how ever i would be careful of outpatient hysteroscopy as they can be pain full please look at facebook.com/HysteroscopyA/
Thank you for sending that link, I have my appointment with my consultant today to discuss to procedure. I will definitely ask about pain management. I'm scheduled to get my procedure done next week so im happy to report back on how that went for you to inform your wife. Unfortunately I don't have much choice but to get it done as they won't continue with the treatment. Although from what they say getting this scan will improve my chances as the womb would reject the embryo due to this fluid found in the uterus.
The consultant said to take paracetamol as I’m having it as an outpatient. He did say that I could have a general anaesthetic if I was worried but it would take me awhile to get over the effects.

Thank you for the info, I contacted them and they have agreed to use a local anaesthetic. I'm just trying to relax about the procedure so don't want to scare myself by reading lots. I appreciate your help with this, its been useful. I hope your wife's procedure goes well and your able to start treatment soon.
Sorry to hear she’s had a scare, thats always a worrying time. I had a smear test awhile back which showed I had pre cancerous cells. I had loop surgery as an outpatient with local anaesthesia to remove it. I didn’t feel a thing and the hospital were great. I know it’s hard not to get yourself worked up about the procedures. The way I try to think of it is, we are all on the road to trying to become pregnant and no pain will compare to that so we have to be brave and do what we can to give ourselves the best chance.
The procedure went well and I was given the all clear visually, just waiting for the biopsy results in the next few weeks. The procedure was uncomfortable when getting the local anaesthesia, the camera part and the biopsy. It was uncomfortable but not completely unbearable , but I am glad I got the local as I presume it blocked a lot of the pain. I did also experience some lower back pain/pressure during the procedure (similar to intense period cramps) I had to stay back awhile in outpatients to recover as I felt faint and my blood pressure dropped (they said this is quite common) now experiencing some light bleeding for the last week but this is normal - sorry for the gory details thought it might be helpful for your wife. I went to a private hospital and could choose the gender of my doctor, I chose a male as this doesn't personally bother me and other than that I had two female nurses present. Could you opt to go private and choose a female doctor with a local anaesthesia?
im glad it went ok i have been told the injection in to the cervix is unpleasant was hoping they could of given you alternatives like mozdlem (tablets)but they do not like giving opeauds out it would of bean unbearable with out local with you having a lize you were very high risk of pain im sorry i was a bit abrupt last time i just felt doctor was being dishonest with you. don,t worry a bout gory details wife put me in charge of finding this out so she does not have to. yes as a rule males tend to be better that females as there very matter of fact and even rough im all for patient choise but for mainly religious reasons we can not i looked at private could do it at a push but wife would not let me spend the money. i spoke to pals and they said they will all be female there but if there was a male registar it would not be the end of the world it was the fact they tried to hide this from me and would not talk about it as legally there does not have to be one just 2 nurses like your self but with having ga there covering there arsses will let you know how it goes if thats ok
Thank you - I'm pleased its over as I'm a bit of a worrier so to speak. I've had a local anaesthesia in the womb before so kind of knew what to expect on that front. Thats ok, you were helpful as I would of went the paracetamol route as suggested by the doctor. Thats very supportive of you to find out information for your wife, I'm sure she appreciates it. I see, I thought it may be for religious reasons. Well I hope it all goes to plan with females present etc Yes I would be interested in staying in contact and hearing on your wife's progress.
