1 week into meds on Fresh Cycle - anyone at a similar stage?

Hi there,

We are starting a fresh cycle, been on meds since 28th December, so a week now and we are with London Guys Hospital. First monitoring scan on 15th Jan. I just wondered if anyone else is currently in a similar stage, to share the journey together with 😊

Hello. 👋I’m about a week behind you I think! Would love to share our journey with you. I have just started my preparation month and a week into taking the tablets. Will start injections the week after next if all goes as planned. This is my first experience of IVF. We are under the Centre for reproductive and genetic health in London. Is this your first cycle or have you been through it before? Wishing you all the best and lots of baby dust! 🌟 xx

Hiya!!

Ohh that’s exciting.. what tablets are you on? We have ICSI form or IVF and with that don’t start on tablets, just straight to injections.. so that’s why I ask. We have one little boy from ICSI who is nearly 3 😊

We have had quite a few rounds of ICSI but I never quite seem to remember how long it all takes and the next step, until I’m actually in the process. Excited and nervous all in one. What about you? Xx

Hello. Sorry for my slow reply. How are you? How are things going?

I have been taking Norethisterone since New Year’s Eve. Just finished the course yesterday and now waiting for AF to arrive so I can get checked before I start my injections.

My medication arrived yesterday and my goodness there are so many boxes! A little over whelming and it also included some gel I need to use which I knew nothing about. I assume I will find out when I go back to the clinic.

I go on annual leave the end of this week for two weeks. Fingers crossed the timing of everything works out.

Hey! I started injections 27th December on a short cycle. My egg collection is next week.! Will find out which day later after my 2nd scan check up!

I’m on the same stage as you started 27 injections and just found out egg collection will be Monday so it’s all go! How are you finding things?

Amazing! I’ve been for my scan this morning. There just under 17mm so I need another scan Monday with egg collection Wednesday potentially!

Everything feels good so far. This is my second round now, I didnt want to build my hopes up as much this time because it torn me a lot last time where I guess you expect it to work. BUT she has said today everything look absolutely perfect so I feel more positive 😊 how are you feeling? Is this your first round? Xx

Ah great...yes first round but was doing IUI (3 attempts) before that with sonar sperm as solo wannabe mum. It’s hard emotionally I knew it would be with everything I’ve done so far but never gets easier all we can do is stay positive and hope for the best can’t we? x

Sorry to hear it hasn’t happened in them attempts. I hope this one is your time now. I envy your strength doing this alone ❤️ positivity is the best thing even though it is hard at times. I hope they get plenty of good eggs for you Monday! You’ll have to keep me updated xx

It’s hard doing it alone but I have amazing friends and family behind me and in some respects that fact I am doing this on my own is very empowering. IUI is very low chance but with not fertitly issues my consulatant wanted me to try that first as less envasive etc. But I am def staying positive scans this morning showed a good number of follicles on one side and good size so fingers crossed. Sorry to hear your first go wasn’t successful but I am sure you are doing everything you can to help. I’m doing walking gentle Pilates and yoga and acupuncture to help. I know no scientific evidence really to support acupuncture but I think well I have nothing to loose. All the best for you too and yes will keep you posted x

Great to hear! We will have our miracle babies soon I hope! Yes I’ve tried acupuncture this time and I do yoga. They say it helps but doesn’t hurt to try 🤷🏻‍♀️ take care good luck for Monday! 🍀🍀🍀🍀 xxx

I am doing ok thanks, trying to get over this cold before egg collection/ transfer, which is finally coming to an end.. waiting for my 2nd scan next Tuesday xx

Hey! We had egg collection yesterday. Retrieved 20 eggs and 13 have fertilised so I’m hoping they hold out!

OMG! That is amazing! Well done hun! Such a high number left fertilised, you must be over the moon :) So do you know yet, when you are due back in for transfer?

Not that close yet. Waiting for 1st scan on Tuesday and then should hopefully start our 2nd lot of injections. They reckon egg collection could be one day w/c 28th Jan though xx

Yeah so pleased with that! We got a good number first cycle but more this time! We have transfer on Monday.

Oh it’s only round the corner though! It will fly by, felt like it did for me xxx

That is a great number...is this your 2nd cycle? Are you with Guys? So does that mean they made 5 day transfers then? That is great!

Oh I'm sure you are right! Time is already going so quickly, but I bet the 2WW slows down ;) xxx

Yeah second cycle. I had a early bleed on day 6 after transfer last time. They couldn’t explain why just unfortunate.

Yeah 5 day transfer. They said it’s rare they put back in on day 3.

Haha god I know! I’m off the tww this time I’ll just have to keep my mind busy xxx

Oh that's good - are you with a London clinic? Guys have done 3 day transfers with us, but not too sure if they do anymore.

No we’re based in West Yorkshire. I think they do offer to some couples though. Are you in London?

Nah I’ll come on here, I like talking to everyone 😊 I’m taking time off work this time I went back to work straight away last time but my manager has been great and letting me just be at home. I’m going to have to Netflix binge haha xxx

Ahh I see.. yeah I think every clinic is slightly different. We have had 3 days transfers before, but also 5. Yes we are with London Guys Hospital.

Oh sorry, that's what I thought you meant. Me too! I think it helps talking to others going through the same thing defo! So a chilled weekend for you, before EC Monday? Oh that's good, I think that's a really good idea as with our first cycle, I went straight back to work and it didn't work, but with our son (nearly 3!) I took some time off & relaxed. Good old Netflix! xxx

Transfer is Monday 😊 but it will be a nice chilled weekend and then I’m off for 2 weeks. No doubt I will get bored haha! Xxx

They said this time to put 1 or two down on our notes. we’ve decided if they give us the option we will ask for two but I think it might be one. I think they gave us this option because 1 didn’t work last time so they look at alternatives Xx

I see...makes sense. We usually put two back, unless we have only had one left..which ironically, was the time it worked, with our gorgeous son :) xx

Hello. I'm on day 5 short protocol, first go for us. Just done first cetrotide injection (not as bad as I was expecting!) Feeling OK so far although last night I was a bit uncomfortable and have been having twingy pains in both ovaries which is hopefully a good sign that the Gonal-F is doing its job. First monitoring scan on Monday so fingers crossed for positive news. Good luck everyone!

Ohhh good luck and I think its good to feel pains in our ovaries, as means the medication is kicking in, I am sure! Good luck for your scan on Monday, mine is Tuesday. Keep us posted. Good luck xx

All going well thanks - had 2 scans so far this week, another tomorrow. All looking good, plenty of follicles growing steadily and if all is still looking good tomorrow I'll be having egg collection on Monday. Even managed to put my brave pants on yesterday and do my own injection 😉

Hi! I’ve been on injections since 27 Dec just found out I will be having egg collection Monday so next phase planned! First time for me after three failed attempts at IUI as I am doing this solo (no partner) anyone else doing this without a partner? often find it hard to speak with others in the same position as me...so much of the advice out there is for couples x

We are 2 days behind you, started buserilin injections on the 30th and have first scan booked in for 17th.

We are on our 2nd fresh icsi cycle. X

Ohhh v similar journeys then! How exciting... how are you finding the Burserilin injections? Any side effects? Good luck for your scan on the 17th. Are you with Guys Hospital? Our first scan is next Tuesday 15th. xx

We are on our first cycle. Started Suprecur injections on 23rd and have our baseline scan on Monday 7th. Really nervous about it and have everything crossed that it is all going okay so far. I havnt had any side effects from the suprecur which has made me wonder if it is actually working. Seems silly but everyone seems to be having aide effects from it.

Hey! Ohh how did your scan go on Monday? I think everyone is different with whether they feel symptoms or not from the meds, so I wouldn't worry.

We are waiting for my 1st scan for monitoring on Tuesday xx

The scan went well thank God. No cysts and clear, thin lining. Now on Meriofert injections as well. Have another scan Monday and another booked for Wednesday to see how things are going. Hopefully egg collection on Friday depending on how my follicles are developing. Fingers and everything else crossed.

Oh that's great! Yeah I think I will be starting the Menopur next week, hopefully if my scan goes ok on Tuesday (fingers crossed!) Ohhh not long to go now! Good luck xx

Yeah I'm shirt protocol due to pcos and high chance of over responding (which I have, and yesterday had about 55 -60 follicles 15mm+ ) but I feel fine, other than a bit bloated and some insomnia from the meds I've been fine. I've over responded before and was really poorly with it so I'm surprised how well I feel this time! Haha

Oh bless you, that's good that you feel ok this time tho. Hopefully with all those follicles, they will be able to get a lot of eggs. Please keep us posted after egg collection tomorrow - good luck! x

Thanks lovely, Im more for good quality rather than quantity haha. But little frustrating that's it's likely they'll all be frozen due to over response. Then having to wait.. again. Good luck to you too x

Hello. 👋How are you all? How’s things going? I finished my Norethisterone tablets on Friday and patiently waited for my AF to come on so I can go for my baseline scan to start my meds - fingers crossed! My medication was delivered to my house last Friday. I got awful cramps during the night on Sunday but only spotting yesterday but I decided to book my appointment for today and a half day at work so I was ready! The clinic I go to is not near where I work so it’s a juggling act! Thankfully my AF has come on today so it’s all worked out. Nervous and excited at the same time. xx

Hello 👋 How are you all? Hope you’re all okay and keeping warm. It’s freezing out there today!

I started my stimulation injections (Fostimon and Merional) last Thursday evening and started Cetrotide injections yesterday morning. Side effects include tiredness, a bit headachey and also get a bit itchy round the injection site after I do my Cetrotide injection but only for about an hour. Find a hot water bottle helps. Has anyone else experienced this?

Had a check up scan and blood test on Sunday. The clinic said I have six follicles developing on the right side and two on the left side but the left ones are very small at the moment. They also said my lining was looking good so far. I was so relieved as I was so nervous.

Got another check up and scan today. Fingers crossed everything is looking okay. 🤞
