BED REST OR NOT DURING 2WW

What is advisable or what worked for you during 2ww? Bed rest or not? Or just generally less stress.

I don’t think there is any right or wrong way! I think it’s down to personal choice!!

I did one tww working the whole way through, ended in a chemical and then my second I was off for the full tww and was a negative!! I’m in my third tww now and I’ve been off since egg collection but I’m going back to work tomorrow!! I’ve just took things easy, but carried on as normal as I can xxx

Thanks for the reply. When was your transfer?

I only took that day and the following day off and am back to work today but my work is not stressful. I guess I should be fine.

It's really neither here nor there when it comes to 2ww.

My transfer was last Wednesday!!

That’s it I think it all out of our control, and not much we can do!! The nurse did say to me whatever you do on your tww won’t predict the outcome!

I work in a nursery so can be a little stressful at times 😂 but I’ll be back to it tomorrow xxx

1st transfer- returned to work 2 days later and had light duties ended in BFN. 2nd transfer I took 2 weeks off, only as I needed to use my holidays. The day after transfer I had a chilled out day of watching movies and the rest of the 2ww I tried to do things that was relaxing (walks, baking, met friends for lunch)but restricting heavy lifting etc I got BFP but unfortunately ended in MC.

I personally don’t think what u do after transfer makes any difference as long as your not running marathons or carrying heavy stuff it’s all down to Mother Nature ❤️ xx

You are right, it's neither here nor there.

I only took a day off. My work is stress free.

I guess I should be fine.

I guess its a personal choice really. I think if you have a physical job it may be a good idea to take a little time off. I dont and actually found it better to be at work than not. I dont do too well with having too much time on my hands (my mind runs riot!), if Im honest so better at work and keeping busy than being on my own at home.xx

Yes, staying home is crazy. I only took a day off but was hard staying at home.

Have returned to work today though, my work is not stressful.

My advice, get on with your life as normal as possible, try to stay healthy happy and active as much as you would’ve been before TWW! My doctors always recommend restore daily activities as before and more less I was doing so.

I’m quite active person, cycling a lot and do other sports including toddler dancing with my 3year old haha so I knew it I can’t just bed rest in my current TWW (my OTD is Wednesday 12th). I’ve never been on one anyway (2 fresh ivfs and 3FETs) even with my first successful pregnancy.

This time round (I’ve tested positive since 6dp5dt) I’ve even used scooter to get myself quicker to train station as early as from 3dp5dt! I was fighting with time limits to get quicker to work and just couldnt tamę days off from work either! And I was doing all my house chores as normal as from 5dp5dt. I’ve taken easy for the first 3days post transfer not to lift anything but then on I had to cope my own with normal duties as needed, this was added progressively as days gone along. I try not to lift my 3and half son, not easy but he’s very understanding at this stage too.

And with my surprise although I gave up so little this time the cycle seems to work for me until now (as opposed to others cycles where I think I gave up more).

I’m strong believer that what meant to be will happen anyway! Please act as your body is asking to do, if you prefer stay in bed do so but there is no advice as such to do so (unless your doctors telling you this strictly!).

Not. It isn’t recommended because you need to keep a healthy blood flow to your womb. Gentle exercise every day is recommended xx

I guess majority is no bed rest. Just less stress in early days.

I rested for 2 days, but not complete bed rest, 3rd day after I walked to pick my daughter up from school and I avoided picking things up so bending over and that- I’m currently 13 weeks after my first transfer and I’d do the same again if I was to have another transfer. Also I felt like I was really stressed and that didn’t make any difference xxxx

I had 3 days rest and gone to work.got pregnant.now I'm having rest 3 days 2nd time and will go to work tomorrow.my dr advices me to rest for few days and then normal routine

Unless your doctor has specifically told you to for some medical reason, spending your 2ww on bed rest sounds like a first class ticket to crazy town if you ask me! I would have gone absolutely mad!

My clinic told me to continue life as normal, so that is exactly what I did. Continued with work (granted I have a desk job) and continued with exercising including hot yoga (although carefully due to possibility of twisted ovaries). The only thing I did differently was eat a whole pineapple over the first few days and do a daily fertility meditation from Youtube. I was lucky enough to get my BFP that validates this approach I think.

Ultimately, I think the best thing you can do during this time is try not to stress. Do whatever you need to help you with that. Best of luck xx

The day after our transfer we were up at 4am to drive 3 hours to my husband's home town for our godson's birthday party!!

My doctor said carry on as normal but don't do anything strenuous that will divert the blood flow from the uterus to the muscles (e.g. lifting weights / spinning class) and now I'm pregnant he's advised me to not do much exercise or even pilates until after 10 weeks, although I can't wait to get back to pilates to keep my back and core strong!!

I worked as normal as I feel better keeping busy and I do enjoy my job.

I agree with most comments that total bed rest would drive you mad! You have got to go with how you feel. If you feel you need a rest have it, if you feel able to go out and get on with daily activities that's fine too. I've decided to work at home the week after my transfer as it's less stressful but it does depend what you do and tbh work is a bit of a distraction! Xx

You are right.

If you put yourself on bed rest then you’ll probably drive yourself mad within the first week as the transfer will be all you’re able to think about. Just take things relatively easy but find ways to keep busy. Make sure you have lots of chance to catch up with friends and family etc. There’s no evidence that I know of to say that bed rest makes success more likely.

Best of luck with your 2ww. It obviously depends on how you are feeling but I was told bed rest isn’t advisable as it’s better to keep up healthy blood flow. For me I just took things a bit easier and avoided doing anything overly strenuous. Hope the time goes quickly for you and there’s some lovely news at the end xx

I didn’t do IVF, instead had a round of clomid after my last surgery to treat endometriosis. I continued working & tried to carry on as normal, except I didn’t do any heavy lifting. I think if I’d been at home resting I would’ve driven myself crazy!!! I did get a BFP & am now 15 weeks pregnant. You must do what feels right for you; if you feel you would blame yourself by working then stay at home resting. You don’t want to have regrets & only you know what is best for you. Depends on the person, I'd say. I didn't stay much in bed. I get really impatient. I needed something to get my mind off it. It's just so tough to get through that time! I hate waiting, ugh! Good luck to you, though!
