I am so sorry to read this. I can't offer any advice other than sometimes it is just a numbers game. However you should be offered a follow up with your clinic and when you do DianeArnold has a list of questions she can email to you.

Today however you need to just be together and hold each other. Take some time to heal and then come up with your plan. Having a plan usually helps me through

Sending you big hugs xxx

Thank you so so much xxx yes for a follow up so will wait on this

It's so hard. I remember for the first ivf I went through I had no thoughts at all that it wouldn't work. Just expected that was it. You will get there. At times it is so so hard. But you are strong and you will do this xxx

Oh bless you my lovely, I’m so sorry! Not really having a reason for a negative result must be the most frustrating thing. Definitely take any questions to your clinic and look after each other x

Hi

I was thinking of you today.

Im sorry to read that you didnt get your BFP.😢 Camillage's advice is good 👍

Hope you have the support you need. 💖 Please dont give up hope or belief 🤞🙏🤲. It will happen. Just because it didnt the first time doesnt mean it wont the 2nd time.

Hopefully the next time with improvements/changes to meds/treatment it will work.

Sending you Big hugs xxxx

I am so sorry! I know it can be extremely frustrating. Sometimes these treatments are all about luck. However, a good doctor can make a huge difference. So there make sure the clinic you are visiting is operating at a high success rate. Its okay it was only your first attempt. Just give yourself some time and then start researching. This will help you keep your mind busy.

Thank you very much :) xxxxx

Hi there, sorry to hear about your failed attempt at ICSI+IVF. I know it feels bad and like you've lost everything but you've got to muster your strength and keep up with moving on. Hugs for you! Take this from someone who has had 2 failed IVF rounds and still haven't got any success... that the success lies in moving ahead. I'm officially on a break from TTC though as we'll have to fund our own rounds from now on and we're really considering other options. But as long as you have more embryos to be transferred you should stay optimistic about the next FET and try and get it scheduled ASAP. Don't worry sometimes the first FET fails but the second one always has more chance.

What exactly is the cause of the troubles with getting pregnant in your case... if you have any idea? Assuming ICSI was referred there must be some inconsistency in the sperm analysis report... did the embryos were PGS cleared? I hope you don't mind me poking my nose into the matter to get more insight.

in reply to Katty_Holz

Thank you so much for your message, appreciated. Yes there was an issue on my husband side everything for me all normal. I have a 5 day transfer with a 4BB blastocyst. We had 10 eggs and 6 fertilised which went down to 4 and then from that 4 we only had 1 which they transferred last Wednesday. Everything seemed to be going so well! I just can’t understand how it didn’t work! You are not poking your nose at all xxx Thank you for asking

Katty_Holz profile image
Katty_Holz in reply to

I agree with Klindmr that you definitely need hugs... so here's my share of it! <3 See the grading is important but then it has much less to do with your success so don't feel bad about the BBs. What did they say about the 4 viable embryos ... did they got arrested or just some other reason? Did you get PGS done on the embryos? What's your last tested AMH level? Considering it's male fertility and donor conception isn't an easy choice to switch to, so I'd say try to get into the details of what was wrong. Considering, now you'll need a whole round all over again there's much time to do the digging.

in reply to Katty_Holz

Thank you so much :) in all honesty they just said they didn’t make it they didn’t tell us anything other than that. My AMH level was 8 does that sound right? So I think lower? I know we know need to give ourselves a few months to work out where we go from here ☺️

If you haven't had PGS make it a priority in next round if you're going for it without making many changes. Sometimes some minor anomalies in gene get-up can cause this degeneration, arresting and even MC. It's actually possible to not find success on first transfer... but the chance improves over the next rounds. However, it's always best to do something differently, minor tweaks in the process could help a lot. Good Luck

in reply to AmbK

Thank you so much. I had never heard of this until you just told me. Do I ask my Dr about this tomorrow? Also my Dr tried to say they double booked my appointment tomorrow but I would not take it and told them that’s not my issue. The last 2 weeks have been hell and I need some answers now! Just feel like they want nothing to do with it now it hasn’t worked xxxx

AmbK profile image
AmbK in reply to

I can understand your situation, hugs for you! Well, I'm just about to start my IVF so it's mostly out of acquired knowledge and not experience really. So guess my level of dismay is much less than you at this point at least and I don't even know how the tweaks really turn out. But then it even sounds logical that if you've had failed at IVF before it's best not to stick to the exact same way and try again. So, figure out what all the clinic can do this time to ensure a better chance of success at the least. Adding up PGS to the regime will be a good inclusion. Your problem is mainly male infertility, right? I mean judging from the ICSI. Take a look into the IMSI too.

in reply to AmbK

Oh amazing good luck to you. Are you going through ICSI? Yes it’s a male factor however my AMH was lower than it should be but I don’t think that was the issue as such although again now I have so many questions in my mind xx good luck to you I wish you all the best ❤️

AmbK profile image
AmbK in reply to

Thanks for the good wishes! :) Yes, I'm having an ICSI+IVF too, because DH's SA results didn't come out all clear. Well, it's not the low count but the viability is low due to some morphology defects... they are actually double tailed. Though there's only 18% teratozoospermia identified in the SA. That's why did IUI before and didn't jump to IVF hoping it's only the sperms mobility that's somewhat maimed, that's too only a portion of it that's slightly high than the permissible normal limit. But sadly it didn't work, so we had to move to IVF now and definitely, ICSI is included in the procedure considering out medical records. IMSI does apply in my case as well so we're bit stretched on which one to go for. I'll have to switch to a different clinic though (doc too suggests an expert in IMSI) for IMSI it's not offered in my current clinic.

So sorry to hear this. I hope you can get some answers and change some things up for next time. I've seen other people on here say that you can think of the first one as a trial run.

Wishing you all the luck in the world xxx

So sorry to hear this.. BFNs are devastating, especially after the first go.. Take some time for yourselves to heal and come back fighting! It’s a rollercoaster for sure but there’s always hope for the future.. Sending hugs xxxxx

So sorry to hear you got a BFN. I really hope the clinic will give you the answers you need on the follow, hopefully next time around the doctors will have a better idea after adjusting meds etc.

Look after yourself in the meantime and sending you lots of hugs xx

I just feel empty at the moment. I can’t understand why it didn’t work but at the same time I understood that first time is very rare. It’s so hard but I have my follow up appointment booked in for Thursday so will hopefully have my questions answered. Xx

Honey next time do 2 embryos transfer. I done last time ended bfp. I don’t know your age. If u more than 35 clinic ll do and I don’t know you embro grade as well. Did u freeze any

in reply to Daddu1

Thank you so much for your reply, appreciated :) I am 32 years old. It was our first icsi cycle. We had 10 eggs and 6 fertilised which went down to 4 and then when it came to transfer we only had 1 which was graded 4BB so nothing to freeze which was really disappointing. I just can’t get my head around it? X

I’m so very sorry to hear this. I know how devastating this is for you. When you are feeling ready, your consultant will be able to discuss your cycle with you at a review appointment. They will hopefully be able to identify areas of your treatment that might be adjusted in some way to help improve your chances of achieving a pregnancy if you decide you want to try again. Take good care of yourselves xx

I feel so bad for you. I really hope you are feeling better now. Don't worry you will get your BFP soon. Just make sure the next time the clinic you are opting for has a high success rate. Clinics play an important role in all this so make sure you are in good hands. Sending you a lot of hugs and baby dust. Stay blessed!

I am so sorry about your BFN. You need to stay strong. Everything will be fine. I know this must be so hard for you, but you have to keep fighting in order to achieve your dream. Find a good clinic for yourself, they will be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Elle, I had exactly the same.

my first round of icsi on the l9bg protocol, 12 eggs 11 fertiliser, only 1 5ab to transfer. nothing to freeze. it implanted and then I miscarried really early.

2nd round 10 eggs and 6 fertilized, had 2 3day transfers, but nothing.

3rd round we did the short protocol and I took dhea for 3 months prior and we got 14 eggs and 8 fertilized. I got one to transfer and one to freeze, both 3bb.

the first one is now my 20 month old daughter, just had the frozen one implanted, 8 days ago. I am testing negative and all the feelings have come back. I would so love another.

problems on my husbands side hence all this drama.

I am so, so lucky that I had a beautiful baby. if the embryo does not stay then it was not good enough, nothing we can do. believe me I would have stood on my head for 2 weeks if I thought it would help.

I have had the endo scratch which I think helped.

you will get there, but it's not easy, it's not fun and I know your pain. I have not taken my daughter for granted for one second and I sincerely hope you become a mummy soon x

in reply to jessisfun

Thank you so much. I really appreciate all your comments. I have been back to the clinic and can see start anytime however got a holiday in May so thinking have that and then start when the summer months are here. Also we went private first time but I am going to see my GP next week to find out my options on the NHS. So happy to read you have a little one so dreams do come true and I’m sure another one won’t be far away. Thank you again xx

ask about short protocol as it works with your natural egg and look up dhea for fertility. if you are taking some time anyway then do the fertility dose for 12 weeks, it helps with egg quality and haul!! it also makes you randy as you like, my husband thought it was awesome for the first few days and then started hiding from me, it was the most fun I had on the whole journey!!

Yes they have advised a lighter IVF next time for sure if that’s what you mean by short protocol? Will look into dhea thank you so much 😊 have a great weekend and I’ll keep you posted on my journey
