Frozen embryo cycle

We had our first cycle in August which resulted in a missed miscarriage.

We are looking at having 1 embryo put back in in January.

We have been given the protocol.

Start Buserelin on day 21.

2 weeks later a scan and progynova tablets for 15 days.

What I’m asking is, with a frozen cycle is everything more set, or is the 2 weeks etc an estimate and it can be longer/shorter?

It says start cyclogest depending on linning scan. If linning scan goes ok, how long after starting cyclogest is transfer likely to be.

I’m finally starting to feel a bit excited after a few months of hell, but I’m deffinately more scared already :(

The two weeks I would say is probably an average for most people but it can vary - Im one of those awkward patients, my lining always takes a bit longer to thicken up so I never seem to manage this time scale....think Im usually around 21 days before I start cyclogest and looking the same this time. You usually take cyclogest around 5 days before embryo transfer. Hope that helps! Best of luck when it comes!xx

Sorry to hear about your loss. As long as your body responds to the treatment then the timings will be pretty much spot on. I had transfer on the 5th day of using cyclogest. Wishing you lots of luck. Xx

Cyclogest is taken around 5 days before transfer. I’m doing a natural modified fet next week with transfer being on Thursday and I’ve been told to start cyclogest on Sunday.

I’m sorry for your loss. Wishing you much luck with your fet xx

I presume that your embryo that is being transferred is a 5 day one. Even I have had it for 5 days and never got extended over the 2 rounds I had so far. But I was told that it depends on the embryo age and anyone with 3-day embryo to be transferred will be on Cyclogest for 3 days. Do you had anything other than the 5 days Cyclogest?

Yes, mine’s a five day embryo xx

FET medicated one can be slightly different for each of us. Here it is mine:

Buserelin on cd19 - this is because I’m having bit shorter cycles (24-26days long). It was only started for me now as usually I’ve started still cd21

18days later -scan, oestrogen tablets started along reduced dosage of buserelin (0.25)

7-9days later - second scan, check for lining thickness. Mine is ready 9days past first scan.

Once body is ready all depend if there is 5dt or 3dt. In my case transfer is set 9days after second scan (which is lining check), and progesterone starts 6days before transfer.

All the best to you xxx

Hi there, I hope the process turned out to be successful. BTW I wanted to know if you had 6-day embryos because as per my knowledge that's what defines how long you're supposed to start Cyclogest... so just trying to reconnect the information.

My transfer is yet to happen, this will be my 3rd FET and is planned for next Fri 30th.

I have 5days embryos in storage, not really sure though how the clinic determine the progesterone intake, they never told me...

Oh, that's awesome... Fri 30th is just around the corner. I guess you'll need a lot of best of luck to boost your optimism just to keep you covered. Sending you good luck and lots of love!

Well I didn't ask either to the clinic which would have been a comparatively smarter move but a lot goes inside the mind over an IVF to pay heed to a not so important "why" about something in the SOP. I came across it somewhere later on, about the considerations for deciding on the progesterone duration before FET and that's why looking for practical happening. Hope you understand. A woman back to square one TTC has much need to spend time procrastinating about all these stuff and get tangled in finding more info or reading voraciously online something or the other.

Keep us updated about the proceedings.

Thank you Katty. It feels very strange this time as I’m not focusing too much and the whole process gone so quickly this time for me, I want this badly but because I’ve miscarried after first FET and second was just BFN I’ve let it this go without too much fuss about it. Let’s see what’s happen next. I’m planning to be calm and take whatever God send to me now😘

Hi there, sorry to hear about your previous loss. MCs are worst of thing to dampen your hope and optimism when on a fertility road. But I'm glad that you have mustered your courage and moved on, to get to next step about trying again. Wish you all the luck in the world to find success with your upcoming IVF in January. Now about your question, the time vary slightly depending on the response of the individual to the medications which is simple reproductive hormones. Just like the PP says, it actually depends on your lining... you need one around 8 or more mm for the transfer. Like you said, when they scan they'll tell you if it's okay to start Cyclogest accordingly or to continue with the estrogen for a few more days. So you can't expect the time to be any shorter than when the first scan is scheduled. On avg it takes 5 days. mine were all 5 days but then it depends on the embryo you froze. It actually prepares you for the transfer to match up your system with the embryo's time and sync it all to perform the FET. I know it's only natural to be scared at this time but have hope... cling to hope. Everything else will fall in place and may you find success with your FET this time. Good Luck!

Hey, I am not sure it’s set. I am on FET now and started down regulating on 1 Nov - AF was late so my 2 week scan was pushed to next week (28) so already two weeks behind my protocol.. your body will dictate a large part of it, but roughly from start to finish anywhere between 6-9 weeks is the norm I think.. best of luck xx

Sorry to know about your MC. I am glad that you are occupying yourself with other thoughts. Staying busy always helps. I hope this cycle with frozen embryos works for you. It really depends on your lining and how well the doctor's monitor. The more experienced the doctor the better it will be. Good luck to you. Do keep us updated.

Hey, I can totally emphasise with you,I also had a MMC end of Aug and having a FET on the 7th or 8th Dec, last time round I was full of excitement but now all I feel is nerves a) in case it's a BFP and b) incase it is positive then think I will be a nervous wreck, however I have been using a meditation app and going out for long walks which seems to help so maybe worth a try.

My protocol is going to plan at the moment but all depends on the scan/lining results.

Wishing you all the very best of luck x

I m sorry for your loss. Miscarriage is a really hard thing to cope with. But I m really glad that you are not giving up and still ready to take the next step. The thing you asked about hon it really depends on your lining. But for most, it takes 5 days. I hope this time it will work for you. Make sure the clinic you are opting for has a high success rate.
