How many eggs?

Hi ladies,

Have just had my egg collection and had 16 collected. The embryologist has decided to go with ICSI. So I’m wondering, how many eggs did you all get at collection? And those who had ICSI, how many did they inject and how many fertilised?

I literally had my egg collection yesterday and had the same number! They phoned this morning to say 7 of them have fertilised, I’ll get an update on how they’re doing on Thursday. Unfortunately I’ve got mild OHSS so we’re having to freeze them all this cycle so keeping our fingers crossed we have some that make it to blastocyst on Saturday 🤞🏼 Good luck with fertilisation 😊💕 xxx

How strange that we have the same number!! Congratulations on 7 fertilised, that seems like a good number! Sorry to hear you have OHSS, when did they find that? I really thought I might be overstimulated because of all the pain I had after my trigger. I’ll keeo everything crossed for your little embryos! x

Thank you! It was literally before I went in for egg collection and the doctor was asking how I’d been during stims, when I said I’d felt sickly and been sick once she warned me that it might be OHSS and that she’d check during the procedure. When I came round she confirmed that there was some fluid in my pelvis and my follicles were quite enlarged so it was OHSS, I was disappointed that we couldn’t go ahead with transfer but it’s better than being really poorly I suppose! Fingers crossed you get good fertilisation numbers 😊🤞🏼 xxx

I think if I remember correctly in cycle 1 we got 6 eggs (1 not fit for use) - 5/5 fertilised, cycle 2 we got 6 eggs - 6/6 fertilised and in cycle 3 we got 9 eggs (1 immature so not used) 6/8 fertilised. Good luck.xx

That’s a fantastic number of eggs. Hopefully since you’re having ICSI you’ll achieve a high fertilisation rate too. Good luck xx

I had 15 collected, 14 of those mature

11 fertilized (ICSI) And managed to have 8 good quality blastocysts.

First round; ivf, 16 eggs - 14 mature, 8 fertilised, 5 made to blastocyst

Second round; icsi, 19 eggs - 14 mature, 9 fertilised, 5 made to blast.

16 is a good number. Our lab explained that they expect about 50% (of mature eggs) to fertilise and then 50% of those to make blasts, ideally xx

15 out of 16 are mature and have been injected, so just the waiting game to hear how many fertilise over night. It’s a strange but lovely feeling that our future baby could be sitting in a dish in a lab right now!

I had 12 retrieved, 11 were mature 7 fertilised and all maybe it to day 5, one transfered in February which sadly failed and had a successful FET in may. Good luck! Xx

Stats for me as follows: 18 collected, 11 mature, 9 fertilised normally, and 5 made it to blastocyst. We has ICSI because our clinic abroad includes it regardless. Also, I had a freeze all cycle because the doctor discovered a polyp. As soon as I have this removed, it’s on to FET. Good luck!

1st round 15 eggs, 14 mature, 11 fertilized through ICSI but only 1 good blast

2nd round 14 eggs, 11 mature, 8 fertilized through ICSI and 3 made it blast 😊

16 is a great number! I think everyone is different mine seem to be like 75% or more fertilize but not as many blasts. But yes 16 is great, best of luck! Xxx

Not at all, umm they don't really know hun. Could be sperm, and at my age (38) could be my eggs. Or just sometimes a bad batch of sperm or eggs. BUT my second round was wayyy better than my first. Less eggs but better fertilisation 8 out of 11.,.and 3 blasts. For my second round my partner had quit smoking for over 3 months, I was taking coq10 and I had my partner on blackmores conceive well supplements too. So whether that helped? Who knows! ivf is really just a big lottery unfortunately xxx

It is all a mystery isn’t it? Thanks for the info, I’m such a worrier and can’t stop thinking that none of my eggs will make it to transfer or that they’ll spontaneously catch fire or something 🙈

Lol I hear ya hun it's all a horrible nerve racking wait! From start to finish...ive never even got 2 lines I can't imagine how I'd be if I actually got pregnant!! Lol I'm sure you will have lots of lovely embies! 😘😘 xxx

Hi there! 1st cycle, 6 eggs collected 5 mature, 5 fertilised normal ivf, 3 blastocyst, 1 top grade transferred - bfn, other 2 blasties didn't make it. 2nd cycle, 1 egg collected, fertilised with icsi, transferred on day 3 - bfn. We were told that up until day 3 is when the sperm takes over so if before day 3 you have issues and your embryos don't develop well, it's down to the sperm. After that is to do with egg quality (not sure how true this is) xx
