High progesterone and Bleeding from 6dp3dt.

Hi,

So I started bleeding 6dp3dt initially light flow and brown then after 3 days turned into heavy red flow. I was worried my progesterone was low and wanted it checked but my clinic wouldn't check, so I got a private blood test which actually showed it as really high >1910.

Could the high progesterone of caused my early bleeding like low progesterone would?

OTD isn't until Sunday but after having the heaviest period of my life I'm certain it will be negative.

Just trying to gain more information so I'm prepared for my follow up appointment to improve round 2

Someone said a level that high would work like the mini pill and block implantation?

I'm sorry to hear you're thinking this cycle hasn't worked. I'm sorry I'm not sure about high levels of progesterone and if it can cause bleeding. Have you spoken to your clinic since the heavy bleeding? I know a lot of women have bleeding and still go on to have a bfp so I would still wait for otd before you completely rule out this cycle. I'm sending you a big hug, this ivf journey is so cruel, but it's not over till it's over xx

I agree. Definitely check with your clinic asap. There may be something or nothing and you may have a viable pregnancy. Good luck. Have you had hcg tested too or done an hpt? X

My clinic haven been interested in my bleeding and just told me to wait it out when I've called them several times about bleeding. They wouldn't do bloods or anything hence I did them privatetly.

I did a beta check with my progesterone check at 9dp3dt which was negative at 0.2.

Just want to learn more about the effects of high progesterone and understand more as it appears quite unusual to start bleeding a whole week before OTD.

Oh I am sorry to hear that. It's really hard when they don't seem to help at all. Unfortunately I bled before otd on both of my NHS cycles which were bfps. I also had light spotting back in my March transfer time but that must have been implantation bleeding. When is otd? I hope things turn around. Lots of people seem to get bleeding and all is fine x

OTD is tomorrow. I've come to an acceptance that it hasn't worked. Thank you for being hopeful for me but even the early beta was very negative.

Without hope I guess we would all be depressed and give up x

What I mean is, there is still time between 6day test and 10 or 12 day test to increase. I really hope it works xx

Hi Rose2303. So sorry to read this, as it does seem as if this cycle has failed because of the heavy bleed. The high progesterone builds up the lining for the embryo to implant, but if it goes too high then it is preparing to shed the lining for a bleed. Obviously got to wait till Sunday to do official test, but if you have bled lots already, then it’s not looking hopeful. Thinking of you. Diane

Thank you. I've come to terms with the fail. Just need to be equipped to manage round 2 better. Do you know any ideas of how to manage my progesterone next round?

Hi. It seems as if you are producing plenty yourself, quite quickly, so perhaps less pessary support is needed. Something to ask about, I’ve got lists of questions I can send you if you want before your next consultation. You would need to email me in confidence to support@fertilitynetworkuk.org if you want them. Diane

Hi Diane

I was interesting in this thread as I’m currently 5dp5dt (FET) and I’m on 1600mg of progesterone per day (4* 400mg Cyclogest) which seems very high compared to others on this forum. I’m having some light pink / brown spotting - can a progesterone dose be too high?

Thanks

Hi Ajj. At home today. Just read this. It is a high dose, so it might be irritating your cervix a bit. Mention it to your clinic, who may reduce the dose, or check your blood level. Good luck! Diane

Many thanks Diane - can Cyclogest irritate your cervix even if taken rectally? So much info to get your head around! Thanks for your help, Ajl

Hi It shouldn't do, but it could be down the absorption of too much progesterone. See if you can have a blood test. Diane

Have they suggested blood tests for comparative levels? Hoping everything is ok for you. I don't know the answer sorry, but keen to hear what the clinic suggest to you as I am suspicious of high progesterone dosage given my recent fails.
