Timescale advice for laparoscopy

Hi everyone. I had some upsetting news today that my right tube is definitely blocked and my consultant is going to write to my gp to get my referred for the procedure. Iv previously had private iui so my gp/nhs have not been involved at all. Does anyone know how long the wait is likely to be for the procedure? I’m trying to stay positive but I’m really struggling and feeling like my previous 3 iui were such a waste of money and time

I’ve just read your post, I cannot answer your question unfortunately, but I’m hoping you can help me. I’ve also just been diagnosed with a hydrosalpinx on the left tube.. what procedure have you got to have? Or what advice have you been given? I’ve just had a laparoscopy but they never did anything to fix it! X

I’m sorry I’m not 100%. My consultant said it was treatable but didn’t say how exactly. I need to be referred as my private clinic does not offer such things and as such didn’t go into it much

Sorry to hear this how annoying to be only just picked up on 🤦🏽‍♀️ I don’t blame you feeling upset I would be if I thought I’d wasted precious opportunities 🤦🏽‍♀️

All areas waiting lists will vary.

I know you feel ; I had to put my trying on hold whilst I underwent 2 surgeries this year to treat my endometriosis. Delays are awful.I have had 3 laps so if you have questions over any it feel free to ask xoxo

Thank you. How long was your recovery in terms of going back to work? I’m just trying to think of things I can control. Lol

I had a lot endometriosis removed but was back to work 2 weeks later on lighter duties whilst my internal organs repaired ( it was all over my rectum & uterus ligament) xoxo

So sorry to read this, I was in a similar position last year. The day I was due to start my first round of ivf they found fluid in my tube (even tho it had all been investigated before)

I think every where is different but i waited 3 months to get my right tube removed then had to wait 3 months after before the clinic would resume any treatment. They need to give your body time to get back to normal before starting again.

I had fluid in both tubes and both were blocked. I had a lap in Oct 2015 and waited 3 months and I had another lap in May 2018 and had to wait 3 months also, both tubes have now been clipped.

After I had them clipped my consultant said I could call up on next period to request treatment. Xx

Thanks for replying. Can I ask what u mean by clipped? I’ve not really looked into it much and I’m just trying to get my head round what might happen. I know I should just wait till I get referred but I’m very inpatient lol

Yes sure, tubes can be removed all together or clipped in which they use some form of clip to block anything from the tubes so I had hydrosalpinx and clipping my tubes would stop that fluid from getting in to my uterus but it also stops eggs travelling down fallopian tubes, mine were completely blocked and damaged and I had not.got pregnant in over 5 years of trying so I agreed to have it done. Xx

Hey, I think area waiting lists are different everywhere. I waited 8 months for a lap from date of being put on the waiting list and that was a cancellation appointment. But I think our area is one of the worst for waiting times so hopefully it won't be as long for you x

I'm in Northern Ireland so we seem to be much slower. Hopefully you'll be seen a lot sooner as some of the other posts suggest. I remember messaging someone around the time I was waiting for mine who couldn't understand why my wait was so long and I think they had only waited 6 weeks for theirs x

In 2016 I waited nine months for an exploratory laparoscopy in Northamptonshire but I’m sure the waiting list is different in different places. You should be able to ring the consultancy’s secretary and ask to be put on their cancellation list.

I am also newly on the lap waiting list in Cheltenham which is a 6/7month wait. I didn’t ask in my gynae appointment but the leaflets they gave said to call the drs receptionist if any questions, I debated doing it but it just put my mind at ease!
