I've read through a few older posts and wonder if anyone had any updates after a few months taking DHEA?

I conceived naturally twice after being on it a year. But lost both not long after implantation. I had never conceived before then.

I’ve had 2 mmc and have started taking it with ubiquinol, hoping it’ll help.

My last One would have been a MMC I think if I hadn’t had an extra beta, which had lowered. If I hadn’t done that I’d have carried on until the first scan.

Sorry to hear about that it’s rubbish xx

in reply to Orla9298

My first was a blighted ovum found at 12w the my last everything seemed fine got to my 12w scan and there was no heartbeat measured 9w lost it at 13w. Both conceived naturally, hoping next time will be it.

in reply to

I think you are supposed to stop taking it when you get a positive? Xx

Also I upped my ubiquinol to 600mg which has improved the embryos we got from ivf x

Sorry for your miscarriages.

Can’t your fertility doctor refer to a miscarriage clinic?

My fertility doctor has said if I had another loss ( had one last year) he’d refer us to a miscarriage clinic for tests.

I know all clinics will vary 🤦🏽‍♀️

I hope the DHEA gives you a happier outcome xoxo

I don’t have a fertility doctor I haven’t been back to my gp yet, midwife say they don’t test until 3 mc. I was referred to fertility clinic in July but got pregnant in May so cancelled my appointment wish I had just moved it till after my scan.

in reply to

In that case go back to your GP & they should re issue your referral to the fertility clinic & you can ask them about miscarriage tests. Keep even if you do conceive! An insurance policy 😏

I can’t believe how much things can vary county to county 🙈 my fertility doctor says “official guidelines say 3 losses before miscarriage investigations are run “but he thinks it’s too cruel to make you wait for 3 losses.

Not sure where you are situated but if you’re Dorset/Wiltshire way can PM his details. He’s such a lovely man xoxo

I’m up near Newcastle would be a bit of a trek lol I think I’ll give myself a few months see what happens then go I can’t face seeing a doctor just yet.

in reply to

Shame! Do what feels right for you. It can take a few months to get an appointment at the fertility clinic. Wishing you the best xoxo

in reply to

The last was 10weeks wait lol maybe I should then. I’ve changed doctors aswel as mine is closing.

in reply to

My fertility clinic I had a 4 month wait for initial appointment!

If you got the ball rolling might make you feel better, knowing there is a back up plan ( hopefully you won’t need one 😘) It always makes me feel more positive when we have a plan & options xoxo

in reply to

Ok I’ll ring for an appointment see what they say thank you

Sorry if this is somewhere else on the forum, but where do you get your DHEA from and how much do you take? My clinic wouldn’t even discuss it. I have low AMH, many thanks in advance xx

in reply to Jem04

Wow there are loads of different ones! Which one do you take and which dose? I’m cautious as been warned about adverse side effects!

in reply to Jem04

I get my DHEA from Biovea & it was on offer for £15. It does take a while to come as it’s from the states, it’s currently unlicensed in the UK. I have heard of many women taking it prior IVF & getting good results.i also have low AMH. I have suffered no ill effects but things affect different people differently xoxo

Thanks, how many mg do you take per day? Where did you get the dosage info from please?

in reply to Jem04

From online! Usually the recommended amount is 3x25 mg daily. But you should check with a doctor first. I didn’t but I’m not advising anyone to do that xoxo

Thank you too!

in reply to Jem04

Yes I know I wasn’t sure either as I haven’t had any tests so I’m just taking 50mg to start and 400mg ubiquinol as it’s expensive £20 for 15 days. No side affects so far only been taking it a week. See how it goes

I have been on it for around 6 months. Only side effects i have is oily skin and thinning hair. Can live with that. 1st amh test prior to talking was less than 1. Last month's test it was 3.1 xxx

I had a miscarriage Dec 16, started DHEA and was only on 50mg a day around 6 weeks when I tried again and I fell pregnant with my little boy. I stopped taking it the day I got my bfp. It has to be DHEA macronised and stopped as soon as you get a positive test result xx

in reply to littlemisstired80

Hi did you have trouble conceiving or just took because of mc?

littlemisstired80 in reply to

All my fertility tests were bad. Low egg reserve, high FSH of 9.9 but low LH at 3, wasn't ovulating regular and was told by everyone medical it wouldn't happen for me. One even told me to buy a designer handbag with my money or go on holiday. So glad I didn't listen xx

in reply to littlemisstired80

Aww I’m so pleased you managed to have a baby and didn’t give up hope xxx

Mine too. I started on 50mg 2x 25mg a day but can take 3x 25mg for fertility. Look for natrol xx

in reply to littlemisstired80

Since this post I conceived in 3 mths after my 2nd miscarriage, but again the pregnancy was non viable got to 12w had to have a mva was going to come away itself. I was sure taking 140 supplements a week would make a difference 😞 sadly not.

Oh I am so sorry to hear Hun. I had a miscarriage before having my little boy and it's heartbreaking. Have they done testing? Sorry if missed. My friend had multiple late miscarriages and had to take a baby aspirin everyday and she carried a baby to full term. Sending love and hugs Hun. This journey is so hard xx

in reply to littlemisstired80

We’ve had tests we get the results next week and a scan. I’ve took baby aspirin with that Last pregnancy.

I took this for my second cycle. Only had 2 eggs first time neither fertilised. Second cycle I had 6, 4 actually fertilised with only 2 making it to transfer day. I’m now 28 weeks pregnant. It’s definitely worth a try. Good luck xx

This is so encouraging thank you

I got mine from Biovea and came pretty quickly. Hard to know whether it helps as I was taking a couple of things including baby aspirin, CQ10 and Dhea. First month i had bad acne which was hard and a common side effect. I carried on though and within 2 months I conceived naturally after 2 miscarriages one from IVF. I stopped taking all when I got a BFP apart from the aspirin. We are now 20w along. I took it to improve egg quality as my AMH was 5.8 x

I’ve got aspirin too but dunno wether to take it. Did u take when ttc or when pregnant?

in reply to

Hi lovely.

I take low dose aspirin 75mg daily whilst TTC. It is anti inflammatory & because I have endometriosis I think it’s helpful for me. It can help prevent miscarriage. Obviously check with a doctor , the risks are low but even so. xoxo

Another question** did dhea delay ovulation?? I’m not great with opk I don’t get really dark lines as it is. After my mc I had 2 days of pretty dark, darkest I’ve ever got 2 days before ovulation. I’m 2 days bf ovu now and was one line. I have a 25 day cycle could it actually be better if I ovulated nearer day 14 and had a longer cycle?

Tiffs profile image
Tiffs in reply to

No delays in ovulation due to dhea and I too took aspirin when TTC.

in reply to Tiffs

My ovulation day should have been mon, I only got positive opk yesterday tue so ovu wed/ thurs? I’ll just have to see I’m always super regular.

I used DHEA and I’m now 29 weeks pregnant from ICSI. I believe in it. I don’t recall having any issues while on it except my period was out by a few days.
