Hello - I am 12dp5dt on my first IVF cycle. Our OTD was yesterday and we got a BFP! We are over the moon, with a touch of cautious optimism - we had two embryos transferred so waiting our scan in anticipation to see whether we've got double trouble coming our way!
Since 7dp5dt I get a really sharp pain either just above my right hip or just above my left hip when I go from lying to standing. Its painful enough to stop me in my tracks and this morning I was doubled over. It lessens after about 10 - 20 seconds and has completely gone after a minute or so.
I've had no bleeding and whereas when it started it more left sided, now it seems to be more right sided. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi dims, yes this is quite common. Your ovaries have been stimulated by the ivf meds and the pains are your ovaries getting back to 'normal', regaining size and fluid levels. If the pain becomes consistent it could possibly be something like a cyst so worth mentioning it to your clinic or midwife. I had pains in both sides to begin with, but then just in the left ovary. It went on for a couple of weeks and mostly if I turned in bed, got out of bed/sofa or sneezing/coughing. Congrats on your BFP! xxx
Thanks for your reply. I did think it might be my ovaries but its been 3 weeks since my last Gonal F injection so I thought they would have calmed down by now! Obviously not!
Yes - its getting out of bed when it hurts the most, sometimes if I reach for something on a high shelf. Its quite concerning but goes relatively quickly, I have my scan on 10th September so if its still happening then, I guess I'll ask at the hospital.
Mine were very sharp stabbing pains and lasted about 30 seconds or so, at times quite painful. I seem to remember mine went on for quite a few weeks but didn't start until a week after ET. At my 12 week scan I did have a small cyst (I think on left ovary) but they said it was nothing to worry about. Obviously you can call your clinic if you have concerns - they should be happy to put your mind at ease xx
After my last transfer I was in a bit of pain and any sudden movements would cause a sharp shooting pain. I just rested as much as I could, drank plenty of fluids and just didn’t do anything too strenuous. Like Lilli79 said your ovaries have been stimulated so I think it’s to be expected, if it gets too bad though I would mention it to your clinic.
That's exactly what it is, sudden movements. I forgot this morning and was a bit vigorous getting out of bed (very unusual for me but I think I'm just happy!) and it really hurt! I'm off work for a week after today so will take it easy and get my husband to carry my bags!
Hi there, congrats! After my bfp and at my 12 week scan one of my ovaries was still on the large size, so they can take ages to settle down. It could also be your uterus stretching and doing its thing. If you are worried have you mentioned it to your clinic? Good luck! xxx
I emailed them as it’s really hard to get through on the phone (one number for everything it seems!) but from everything I’ve read it seem relatively normal. Just wanted some reassurance I guess! Thanks for you response and kind wishes x
It could be round ligament pain. I have it, hurts when you laugh, sneeze, cough, turn suddenly in bed, stand up to quickly. It’s you uterus stretching. Feels like cramp in your leg but doesn’t last as long but it surely does stop U in your tracks x
