I am back to work today after my EC on Monday. My belly is like a massive balloon and feels so uncomfortable but I’ve felt like I’ve had to force myself back because I only booked 2 days holiday and feel guilty calling in sick..
Saturday I have my transfer and I’m wondering if I need to allow time off to recover from this? I work Monday to Friday so Sunday is a day off for me anyway.
I always feel so guilty because I don’t think Work really care to be honest but I know I need to put myself first.
What do you all think? Am I best off getting a sick note?
I wish I could wear my PJs to work because it’s the only thing I’m comfortable in 🙈 xx

I would stay home and keep moving gently people take sick days for far less and you need to be rested and more comfortable for your transfer work will cope without you x
Oh Hun, take the time off that you need, You know your body best. Give yourself the best chance to get strong for transfer day and to recover after it - the hormones put our bodies through a fair ordeal so look after yourself. Hope you get the rest you need. Hi kirstyblue. Sounds like your ovaries are still a bit active. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, enough to keep your urine pale. Why don't you see your GP and see if he/she will sign you off for a week to recover from a "minor surgical procedure". If you go now, while you are uncomfortable you should get some time off. Hope you soon feel better and I hope all goes well with transfer, and of course I have everything crossed for success. Diane
Thank you. Bloating just won’t go down at all so very uncomfortable sitting in the office. I hate my job as it is and they make me feel so bad for needing time off. How many days is recommended after transfer? I might have to bite the bullet and get a sick note then..it’s just rubbish because when I’m off no one seems to cover my work so I end up playing catch up. Unnecessary stress I could do without xx
My clinic gave me a sicknote on the day of ec for 2 weeks, i just couldn’t face going to work as where i work its really stressful and i’m on my feet all day, i was told to avoid stressful situations. I’m glad i took the sicknote as being at home really has been the best thing for me xx
That must have been a weight off your mind! I’m going to try persevere the rest of this week but see how I am Monday after Saturdays transfer. Definitely don’t want to rush things then. How are you doing? X
I had EC on the Monday and self certed Mon-Fri. Had my transfer on the Saturday and felt fine and went back to work on the Monday. It’s the EC you need to get over, transfer is pain free. If your ovaries are still sore I’d consider taking time off. Mine were tender up until the Thursday and then I felt normal 😊 however everyone’s recovery times will be different x
Thank you. I struggled being back at work today as my belly just doesn’t want to go down 🙈 I’m hoping I can get through the next couple days now. If I’m still swollen on Monday then I might call in sick. Hope your doing okay x
Apart from still being on anti nausea tablets at 28weeks and navigating a change of hospital for giving birth in a different trust but staying with my midwife in a different one (NHS is very disjointed!) I’m actually doing ok. Just counting down the days when I finish work as I’m really busy at the moment 😂 Wishing you all the best for your transfer and fingers crossed this one gives you a BFP! x
