Access Fertility?

Has anyone gone with the access fertility deal? Just wondering if it really is all included in the price? and if you do get a full refund after 2 years if unsuccessful?

Got one more Frozen transfer left but trying to plan ahead as it’s so expensive.

I have gone with access fertility and everything has been included for the actual treatment but all the tests before hand are not included. If it’s a fresh cycle the meds aren’t included either x

Thanks for replying, how come you have to pay for the meds? Do they do them on a prescription? How much do they roughly cost?? Is it the same with frozen?

I used them and all was included just needed to ensure a few tests where upto date first. I now have a beautiful baby girl and 3 frozen embryos (mine was the DE program) x

My was a DE cycle so slightly different but my meds where included, first cycle failed so I had a second try and had an extra injection prescribed and did have to pay for these as it was above the ‘norm’ x

I went with access fertility two cycle package no refund all scans etc included but paid for meds on top x

Hi Melissa, I believe meds aren’t included as they can’t put a set price on them as it all depends on if you are on a short or long protocol and which meds you need - the price of meds for each person can vary a lot. Also, if they included the cost of meds and you didn’t need more than one round, then you wouldn’t need to pay for more meds that you don’t need. I’m not sure how meds are in the U.K. on a private round but I’m guessing an extra 2 or 3k? I’ve got one frozen embryo left on my last nhs go so was looking into access fertility but just can’t afford to pay that kind of money up front and then even more with drugs added. So I’m now looking into ivf abroad as you can get it for half the price of the U.K. and quite often better success rates. For example, a standard round of ivf with own eggs plus meds in the U.K. seems to average about 7k? But in Czech Republic for example, a round of ivf plus meds is approx €3500 - €4000 euros plus you get a holiday! So that’s the route I’m considering now...one round at a time, half the price of the U.K., better success rates and a holiday! Do lots of research. X

£7750 for the package and my meds were £1300 for first round and £1500 for the 2nd. I was on the highest dose for 2nd round and didnt need any cyclogest as i had them over from my first round and didnt get to use them. Ive heard that you can order them from Asda which is a lot cheaper but i didnt know at the time. Xx

Wow so about 11,000 with no money back guarantee 😦.

Ohhh my ....so basically if we go with the money back guarantee and pay 11,000 to start then say we have 3 cycles a year we are talking roundabout 20k for 2 years and I bet they don’t refund the money for the drugs then. So we would only get back 11,000. My ohh my... I need to sell our house at this rate. 🙈

Well we have still got our little frozen one left so let’s hope and wish that it doesn’t have to come to this... 🙏🏻

Looking at what one2one paid, maybe your drugs would be more like £1300 per round or less if you use ASDA? So maybe 15k worse case scenario if you needed 3 rounds? This is exactly why I decided to turn down access fertility and go to Czech Republic and do one round at a time - half the price and better success x

Yeah, so what stage are you at now? I just don’t think I would know were to start with doing it abroad 😬.

I kind of like the guarantee that at least you will get some money back, and it’s unlimited goes for 2 years. I wouldn’t mind paying 20k if I could guarantee we would have our little bundle you know. 💕💕 but it’s not really is it!!

It’s a shame that I find myself looking at the worst case scenario, and not thinking positive. The whole magic of having a child has come down to how much we are willing to pay for the magic. 😔 x

It’s very stressful how much ivf costs. I’ve not heard of access fertility doing unlimited goes in 2 years, I thought it was 2 or 3 rounds then money back if no success, minus cost of drugs. If you have any embryos to freeze, do access fertility pay for that or do you have to pay extra for freezing, storage and frozen transfers?

I didn’t have a clue where to start looking abroad but just kept looking and looking online. I only started looking 2 weeks ago. There’s a forum called fertility friends which is very good for forums on specific aspects of ivf - including going abroad x

There is a refund option which is more expensive but we couldnt afford it. With the interest on our loan its cost us about £15k all in. And it failed. So we off to Cyprus for next go in October xx

Yes it says unlimited goes for 2 years or your money back. So your talking 6 goes at a push, 3 a year I would say. And that includes unlimited frozen so say you have a fresh cycle and you manage to store 2 frozen you have to use the frozen ones 1st before starting a fresh cycle again but it’s all covered. Will be without meds. And you have to be under 38. I guess you just have to have the extra money for meds tho that’s my worry as it will be looking like 20k altogether if it takes 6 goes! 😬 xx

I'm on the donor egg programme which includes standard meds (estrogen patches and prog suppositories) but not the quad therapy (clexane etc.) I was sent quite detailed information regarding what they will / won't refund. They were very helpful in advance with information so would suggest giving them a call x

Hi there

I’m doing access fertility. We paid for the 3 round 70% back. I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant on round one. Only thing we have had to pay for was the drugs (£1400) but we knew drugs were not included before we signed up. They were very quick to give us an answer if we had been successful in our application. All the additional testing was covered under the NHS x

Congrats!!!! How amazing! And although you only needed one round and have paid for 3 I’m sure you don’t mind much as you’ve got a successful result and don’t have to keep putting yourself through more rounds?! Do you know if access fertility include embryo freezing, transfer and storage? X

They include one year freezing I think. We have one in the freezer and haven’t been charged anything extra. If we want to transfer the 2nd embryo it won’t be covered if we have a live birth xx

Your meds might not cost as much as you think. Mine were about £700-900 each time. It all depends on what you need and your consultant should give you an idea as to how much. I didn’t use access fertility xxx

The meds in Asda are much cheaper for instance I had predisolone Asda charged £2.14 the same drug in the hospital cost £15. I would check how much it costs at the clinic and telephone Asda. Asda gave me the prices over the phone. When you drop the precription you can get the meds the next day.

If you know what clinic you are interested in, give them a call and ask them to send you a medication price list?
