Just a bit of reassurance after egg collection

Hi, I had my egg collection on Friday and I was just wondering if anyone else had found it painful? Everywhere I have seen people say it wasn’t but I found it awful. I was awake and on pain killers and sedatives but still found the pressure painful, in the end I got upset and they stopped the procedure after one ovary. I was told that my left ovary was high up and would cause me more pain if they tried it. They managed to get 5 eggs, which I have now been told 2 fertilised. I just feel so disappointed they couldn’t get to the other one because I was upset. X

Some of the group I was with on the morning of surgery reacted differently to me...I didn't have any pain. But weirdly I found transfer painful as I had severe cramps.

We got 2 embryos in the end - I wanted tons and was dissapointed.

Best of Luck with your transfer - even if you have only a few one could be a goodie and stick

Ps I was put to sleep! Or maybe it was heavy sedation...I slept through it...hope you can have this next time xxx

I was put asleep when i had egg collection so didnt feel a thing. When i woke up i was lying on a bed whilst they went to get me tea and biscuits. Could they have not put you to sleep? I had 7 eggs collected from both ovaries, only 6 could be used for ICSI and only 2 of mine fertilised. But it only takes one to work!! Get plenty of rest and fingers crossed this works for you X 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Dont wanna frighten anyone but mine was horrendous...i was screaming in pain! Literally screamingbthe place down, But she kept going! Far out apparently they had given me the max drugs they could....next time I've opted for an anethetist cause no way I can go through that again. I can be out a bit more with an anethetist there. Yet the girl after me..was so out of it they couldnt wake her up! I think everyone's tolerance to the drugs is different.

I’m sorry you went through that too, although I’m pleased someone else had a similar experience to me. I was starting to think I had over reacted and it’s hard too because I can only remember so much of it now due to the drugs!

I just have a high tolerance to most drugs...and i told them that but oh no they kept saying we will give you good drugs dont worry...again I reminded them on the day please give me as much as you can. My doctor who was doing the collection even said "look Nicole I've had an egg collection and I didn't feel a thing I was out to it you'll be fine" yeah well I wasn't! Lol. I remember pretty much everything. They got 15 eggs too 😣

Hi. Yes I was awake and aware of everything too. I had a top up of intravenous pethadine in my arm (I asked for the top up). It wasn’t the most painful thing ever but it was certainly the most uncomfortable thing ever. Unlike you though I didn’t have any problems accessing my ovaries. Fingers crossed for your two little fighters xx

I woke up during my egg collection too! They gave me some more drugs, but I woke again and then they couldn't give me anymore! It was horrible. I was crying and couldn't breathe, they kept going though lol. Once it was over I was back with my husband and was OK, wide awake, unlike the person before me who was still out of it. Weird. Luckily I don't need to do that again, if I did, I would ask to be completely under xx
