Wanting everything perfect after waiting so long- baby names

Hi all,

We are currently 17 and half weeks pregnant with our little boy. It feels like it took 1000 years to get to this stage after trying for 4/5 years. I feel like I want everything to be perfect and as I suffer with anxiety the slightest things seem like big things. I feel as though our baby boy will be nameless as nothing feels right when trying to pick names. I no we still have a while but I feel like we have seen all the names there are. We have so many people past of our lives that would love to be included in the name that we are just using my husbands name for a middle name. Are there any good places for names or any good suggestions? Also how to you cope with up and downs in pregnancy when suffering with anxiety ? Xxx

Hey hun, I feel exactly like you. I have actually got a bit better and allowed myself to get excited. I have been so open about IVF to family and friends that I have shocked myself. I used to life in this bubble and it feels so good to talk about it, so I don't know if that's helped. I felt a little flutter last night but nothing since, but I guess it's early yet. I am going to be 18 weeks tomorrow, we find out what we are having in 2 weeks! Sorry I can't offer any advise regards the baby names, but whatever you choose the baby will be loved x

Thank you, yes I’m quite open about it being IVF I surprise myself too! Wow 2 weeks left do you have ideas or feelings as to what it may be xxx

Hi Hun, I can't help on the name suggestion front but feel exactly the same! I didn't realise how anxious being pregnant would make me! I worry about absolutely everything! I'm 18 weeks & had a scan last week... The baby measured a couple of days ahead & the sonographer said everything looked good but because she said the baby was behaving well I'm worrying because he or she wasn't overly active! I can't wait to see my MW on Thursday to hear the heartbeat to have more reassurance ( helps me for a couple of days ) ! I'm going to find out at the 20 week scan the sex but am struggling with names too. I've looked everywhere for ideas & have 2 boys names & 1 girls name I quite like. That's it! X

Aw I’m sure everything is ok keep positive. Ou little was sound asleep on his tummy for the first 5 mins then when I had a wiggle he rolled over and was waving away x we had the early gender scan at 16 weeks ( and just Because I couldn’t wait til 20 to see if he was doing ok). Hearing the heartbeat def does help for a few days doesn’t it! I had s girls name ready but no boys name

Internet searches. I think boys names are just harder. We struggled when thinking of boys names but with girls names we could think of too many xx

I’m the opposite! Loads of boys names I like but struggling for a girl’s name. Didn’t know it would be so hard to think of names!

My ICSI baby is now 4 months old he was 7 weeks early which was a shock. But my whole pregnancy I didn’t let my self get excited and worried about everything and was scared to look at every scan, wish you all the best throughout the rest of your pregnancy 🤰 xx

Oh I’ll have a look now thank you xx yes I get so nervous about scans my husband must think I’m a loon the 24 hours before each appointment xx

Hi Jade i’mat exactly the same stage as you and carrying a baby boy. I’ve lost 6 previous pregnancies and have a blood clotting disorder so anxiety is all too familiar with me. I’ve been told to do meditative yoga (no moves just breathing techniques). I’m just trying v hard to stay positive and take each day as it comes 🙏🏼. I’ve lost a few baby girls so I expected it to be another girl and I had beautiful names planned but i’m stuck for boys names. Wishing you lots of luck in your remaining pregnancy 🙏🏼😘xxx

We’ve had a boy and girl name picked since our first IVF pregnancy 3 years ago - now I’m scared he/she won’t suit the name when they are born 😂 x

Ps I hear ya re the anxiety! Any time I let myself relax slightly or think to the future I get a tightening in my chest - it’s awful. If it keeps up the next couple weeks I’m going to speak to my midwife x

I was trying for five years too and now finally have my 3 month old baby girl but honestly don't worry to much about names we had a list of 10 girl names through my pregnancy and then when we saw her we chose something that wasn't even on the list she just looked like that if that makes sense xxx hope everything is going well and your starting to get excited

A name that means something like you said grandad or husbands name will be perfect. Also as soon as you see your baby boy it will all make sense as he will suit a certain name. My twins are Harry and Oscar and I can’t imagine any other names nowxx
