Amh result and brand recommendations for dhea and coq10

After my post last night one of the new clinics I went to on Friday called me today with my amh result.

I am nearly 32 and my amh has come back at 16.5. On discussion with the nurse regarding poor quality eggs I mentioned dhea and they have stated I could take 75mg daily.

I know this gets asked a lot but can anyone recommend a good place to get it from x

AMH result on its own can be tricky to predict how effective stims can be without your total antral follicle count, FSH and LH as a whole package. Has this information been given to you yet?

The new clinic have not tested this so will speak to them regarding it. I have had them done in the past and they came back normal. I didn’t respond well in first cycle due to such a low dose but responded well in last two cycles just seems I have poor eggs as only around half fertilise and then fail around day 3 xx

I’m surprised as an AMH of 16 well within the good, normal parameters hun! Although I have heard really positive stuff about DHEA so either way a good suggestion, also coq10 (I’ve just started on these myself, thought it was a worth a whirl!). Xxx

Sorry if you have already said hun and I’ve missed it, but have your previous cycles involved both long and short protocols? Xxx

in reply to Miss_Worrier

All 3 cycles have been long protocols. Out of those I have only ever had one high grade blastocyst and two just behind that. I was shocked too cried the whole way through our appointment xx

Reason why I ask is because ive heard good things about improved egg quality from a short protocol.... I have just been on this as it’s my hospitals preferred process if you have a regular cycle, the consentrate is not on lots of eggs but quality... although I still managed to get 10 eggs - all mature/ good enough quality for ICSI.. I’ve had some other complications with my cycle (seems everyone has something to endure !! 😩😆) so they’ve freezed the two good embryos for in a few months time for when my body is ready - so haven’t had loads and loads of embryos but I think that is more related to a known male factor, so weren’t expecting lots of freeze as part of the elimination process . Also remember not having anything to freeze is very normal and common (I read only 40% of people do!) , so please please please don’t be hard on yourself 😘😘😘 it’s a bit like a horrible numbers game this IVF malarkey (a seriously frustrating one!!) but you’re doing so well looking into all the best options for you xxx

in reply to Miss_Worrier

I’m so sorry to hear about your complications. Hope you can have your Frosties transferred soon. Thank you for your kind words xx

I got my dhea from biovea and took 3 tablets of 25g a day. I have been taking it for nearly 3 months and got my bfp this month.

Just to add Katrina.....a girl that I cycled with had a good AMH of around 20 something but her embryos didnt do so well. She had been chatting to me about DHEA as I was explaining why I'd decided to take it and she thought "sod it, Im gonna try too". Anyhoo fast forward a year and she has just had twins! Oh and my NHS clinic now recommends giving it a try for poor egg quality too!xx

in reply to Cinderella5

Thank you 😊 we have decided to give my eggs one last go so will do anything to help improve them x

I got dhea online from MacPherson labs. It was good delivery, etc. Some people recommend you get 'micronized pharmaceutical grade' for best quality absorption.

Thank you x

DHEA from McPherson labs for me too as the micronised version is more easily absorbed and less taxing on the body, which for me was reassuring as I took it a long time. I took Ubiquinol which I bought on Amazon - search health thru nutrition ubiquinol. I have a very low AMH and low grade egg quality typically. Been taking DHEA since the beginning and added Ubiquinol at the beginning of last year. Currently just over 14 weeks pregnant. Best of luck.xx

in reply to precioce

Wow congratulations. I was worried about how long to take them for as plan to not start another cycle until around November time. X

Thank you. I took DHEA for 3 years in the end so you will be fine until then.xx

Hi Katrina and ladies, my AMH is 1.1 and I've read DHEA everywhere. Shall I ask the doctor or start taking it myself? I just don't want to waste any more time.

Hey, my AMH was 7.19 and after an awful first cycle I had decided I was taking it. I did ask the clinic after I'd already ordered it, my clinic said no harm i trying it. It would do no harm to ask. It didnt get me a pregnancy unfortunately but my embryos developed better. The optimum time is for around 3 months. We have now moved onto donor eggs after 3 cycles as we felt we were wasting our time and money to try any more cycles with my own. Good luck with what you decide.xx

My amh is 13.5 and I was told it’s good for my age I'm 38, my nurse told me good amh level is around 15 so yours is good, do you know your fsh? What is dhea for? You can get CoQ10 from Holland & Barrett xx

in reply to Anna00

I don’t know my fsh but plan to get it tested. Dhea can help improve egg quality x

I got mine from MacPherson labs too - shipment was really fast. Make sure you get the micronized version though - absorbs much better. Also COQ10 (ubiquonol) version too helps. I used both for my 4th cycle there and I went from having really poor quality eggs to having a grade A embryo which turned into a BFP!!! x

in reply to lorraineb61

Wow that’s amazing news and gives me hope. How long did you take them for? Congratulations 😊 xx

I took them for 3 months - absolutely convinced that that is what made the difference!! We were getting ready to head to Spain for Donor Egg treatment!! x

Hi Katrina, my private clinic didn't want me taking DHEA however I am now eligible for nhs funded cycles and when i asked my new consultant about DHEA he recommended I use it and even said his wife took it when she had her treatment. He said that for his wife to use it was suggesting what he thought of it. I got mine from Biovea and it came really quick and I managed to find 15% off my first order online. I don't know if it has improved my eggs yet as my next cycle starts in June but I have tried xx
