Reality check! Updated

I had a frozen et 10 days ago and cracked yesterday and did a hpt which was bfp. I did another today which was another bfp. We couldn’t contain our excitement after 10 years ttc and two previous failed fet and I rang our clinic to inform them. The nurse was lovely but gently cautioned me that as OTD isn’t until Weds there is still time for things to change and that some people will get a bfn on OTD without ever knowing they might have had a bfp a few days earlier had they tested earlier. I feel like i’ve come down to earth with a massive bump :-( xxx

Thank you for all your supportive comments. I have tested this morning (finally OTD) with a clear blue and a first response and they are both positive thank goodness 💜

Ah honey. Don’t let it deflate you. So let it remind you that you just need to keep extra positive and look after yourself until Wednesday for that next stage. Treat it like a mini midway hurdle overcome and get out in the sun xx

Thank you, I think I just needed a bit of reassurance. I hadn’t even considered the possibility of still getting a bfn on test day after seeing the bfp. Fingers crossed our little frostie hangs on in there 🤞🏻 I’m taking your advice and going to sit in the garden xx

I think it’s ublikely to be honest. But so much can change so often on this journey that every day should be taken one at a time. Fingers crossed x

Hi Sarahlou, you should be happy!!! Some clinics can be annoying and v deflating but I think it’s amazing and positive 👍🏼 Some have asked me to test 11 days post transfer and some 13 days but by 10 days post transfer it’s a definite bfp xxx

Thank you Natalia! I was really happy and excited yesterday but I feel like the nurse rained on my parade this morning. I wish i’d not rung them and stayed in my bubble lol! Will be so glad when Wednesday is here. I’m annoyed at myself because with our last two failed cycles I waited until test date but couldn’t help myself this time! I’ll be testing everyday until Wednesday lol xx

Don’t let her upset you! A bfp is a bfp at first his point! You did well to edit this long lol I’ve always texted from 5 days post 5 day transfer and when is been positive it’s stayed that way so please don’t worry. If you had a trigger shot it’s long gone by now too xxx

Thank you that’s really reassuring. It was a frozen transfer so thankfully no trigger shot to confuse things! xx

I know how you feel. I was told my bfp was not viable, because I hadn't phoned on OTD which was 14 days after transfer, I only phoned for a bit of advice lol. Anyway I am 9 weeks pregnant tomorrow... So CONGRATULATIONS on your bfp lol. 😘 Xx

Hiya Firstly Congratulations!!!

So....... your clinic is right to warn you. I test early from around 10dpo and have had chemical pregnancies which can be devastating. However......... this is a massively positive sign so right now, I’d take it as such.

Do you have more of the same htp you used? If so, test every 38 hour’s now until your test day. If find this keeps me sane. You should see that positive line getting stronger each day which will give you more and more peace of mind.

After test day I then switch to weekly digital testing to see the weeks going up..... this gets me through to the 7 week scan.

I’m like you, I need to know. I hate the ideal if being caught out by a bleed while I’m in a meeting at work or something but not everyone thinks this way....... some prefer to just wait it out.

Everything crossed for you 💕👍🍀

Thank you. I’m so sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancies. That’s what I’ve been worrying about since I spoke to the ivf nurse yesterday. I’d bought 4 first response tests so I’ve taken another hpt today, 11 days post frozen embryo transfer of a 5 day blastocyst and it’s still positive so just praying now that it stays that way. Only 2 days until OTD! xxx

Aw thank you hun.... it’s all part of the journey though and we bounce back and survive. I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant with healthy twins, I also have a little 4 year old also through IVF. After 8 years of emotional rollercoaster, we are blessed. I only hope I can help a little when other women are going through it.

I have to say it sounds like good news so far for you so you have every reason to feel positive and hold on to that. The HTP’s will help, at the moment your levels should be doubling every 38 hours so if you are seeing the line darken then I’d say you’re on the home straight 💕💕💕

I hope you’re right. Congratulations on your pregnancy and your little boy. Stories like that make me hopeful! 😘 xxx

Congratulations 😊

Of course there’s a risk of early loss and, in fact, a miscarriage risk throughout pregnancy. But while some people opt to keep their excitement firmly contained while that risk diminishes, it’s not essential - a BFP is a BFP, just test again on OTD for the official records 😊

I’ve also posted a link below which really helped me to understand the risk of loss day-by-day, as we edge towards “the safe zone” at 14 weeks...

Fingers crossed to you for a sticky embie & a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

Thank you so much. That chart is really helpful but it’s scary how high the risk of miscarriage is in the early weeks, obviously made harder with ivf because we know so early on. It’s taken us 10 years of fertility treatment to get to our first bfp so it’s hard not to be excited but I think ivf is such a rollercoaster you never stop worrying do you xxx

Probability is on your side - that first positive test is such a big milestone. I very much hope this is your miracle baby 😊🤞 Keep us posted & congratulations again xx
