Flying during early pregnancy...

Just wondering if anybody can offer their thoughts and opinions....

I’m hoping to travel to Greece in September - if my fet works I ‘estimate’ id be around 7/8 weeks pregnant (we think transfer will be mid - late July).

Is flying safe, and has anybody else travelled early in pregnancy can offer any reassurance?

It’s a tough one as of course, we may not even get a positive! We just feel we need something to look ahead to as well as the ivf xx

Hi Pip 😊 I haven't yet flown in esrly pregnancy but I will be flying next Friday at just over 12 weeks. I have googled about this a lot and there is absolutely no risk to the baby at all. The only reason they get a bit funny about you flying from 35 weeks onwards is purely because of the risk of you going into labour while on the plane (which wouldn't be nice!)

You will be absolutely fine to go on holiday 😊 xxx

Thank you, I’m defo overthinking it. And I’d be supper careful when I was there (keep out of sun etc.) A holiday will do us the world of good.

We’ve said we’ll probably pay for a private scan beforehand with it being before 12 weeks...

Thank you, enjoy your trip too!! X

A colleague of mine travelled with me to Brussels when she was 6/7 weeks. She did have fun hiding the morning sickness from our other colleagues, luckily it was in the morning and was only sick once a day and was fine after that. Our occupational health nurse didn’t say she couldn’t go and believe me she’s strict! Just told her to take her time in the mornings and go into the office when she felt ready. I think you should be fine. I know what you mean about having something to look forward too, it really does feel like you put your life on hold x

Hi Hun, I had my IVF in Greece & flew back to London when I was 6 weeks pregnant. I'm going back to Greece week Wednesday when I will be 12 weeks. I've been told flying is perfectly safe in the early weeks. X

Hi Pip89 😊 No issue with flying & holiday sounds like a fab idea. However you may also want to think about the timings and how you’ll feel if it doesn’t go to plan (how upset you’ll be & dealing with any bleeding, which can be heavy due to the drugs used to thicken the womb lining)... I’d be inclined to book a week or two later (week 8/9) to allow for that, just in case, but up to you. Also if you are positive, you’ll likely have your first scan around week 7, so you’ll want to be at home for that. Fingers crossed all goes super smoothly and you get your BFP x
