Hi all,

I am going to pay for accupunture while i am having ivf and just wanted to know how many sessions people feel are necessary. Its not exactly cheap so i dont want to go over board if poss....the place im thinking of going does 5x £30 sessions and get 2 sessions free...does that sound reasonable and enough?

Cheers xx

That price seems good. You could look into getting a healthcare cash back plan where you can claim back much of the cost, but you have to calculate if it will cost you less than you save.

Cheers staceymac83 how many sessions did you have and did you have them at any particular stages of ivf?

That’s really good value! Mine were £55 each and some can charge over £100 per session. I only ever had a couple of sessions to help stimulate my lining. Good luck x

Omg really! I thought 30 was steep lol! So 7 sessions will be more than enough then! Do you mind me asking if you had any joy getting pregnant after the accupuncture? Xx

I had 6 sessions throughout my IVF treatment. A few during stimms, in the 2WW and the day of ET. It helped me relax and I am convinced it helped contribute to my BFP ☺️ Mine was the same price as yours too at a Chinese medicine place xxx good luck xxx

Mine were £48 a session. I had one per week - started a few weeks leading up to ivf. I also had a session on the day of ET too, I went on the way home from the hospital. I got pregnant that cycle and really think the Accupuncture helped xx

Ps don’t worry about the price, there is another place that charges £15 per session, it’s cheap because it’s a multibedded room, another person is in the room with screens. The lady works for the fertility centre in Liverpool but does multibeds to keep costs down for people. So don’t worry I’m sure it will be fine xx

Hi Steph, are you from Liverpool? I’m looking for recommendations for acupuncture - can you let me know the lady you go to please if you’re here in Liverpool too? Xx

Hi BennioR,

I live on the Wirral. There are two I use if you are prepared to nip through the tunnel?

Wirral community Accupuncture is in Prenton, not far from tunnel. Emma works doing Accupuncture in Hewitt centre in women’s too. She does £15 per session or 4 sessions for £55, they are multibeds though so another person is in the same room with screens. Personally, I don’t find it a problem, the price enables me to have weekly sessions. She does single room sessions at £30 per session. This is purely just the needles and her sessions last about 30-45 mins.

The other lady I use is based in West Kirby, she charges £50 per session which lasts an hour. That might sound expensive but it’s 1;1 and she provides loads of psychological support too. Her clinic room is a lot more posh. She offers the needles and also I think it’s called moca too, she lights little wicks which provide heat to certain areas of the body. It’s like a dual treatment.

Both great places - hope that helps xx

Yes I know the Wirral well, my Nan and Grandad live in New Brighton so travelling through the tunnel is the norm for me!

That’s great thank you for all the info ☺️❤️ xxx

I was in Manchester for work during an IVF cycle and had an acupuncture session with a lovely lady called Lin Du, think she is near Stockport.

Hi, I started acupuncture after my failed first round, not had my second round yet so can't comment personally on the success rate. However I feel less stressed & my period isn't as sore so that's a bonus! My lady charges £30 a session too with 7 for price of 5 or 12 for price of 10. I went with the 12 and think will need to book more as my next round will not be until July at the earliest, gutted! I have however read lots of positive stories and they mention acupuncture being a big help! Xx

That's really good! A lot less than I paid. My acupuncturist recommended a session at each stage, I think I had around 6, from memory xx
