Fertilization update: no blast but growing

So I've had another call from the embryologist this morning. Our day 3 2 cell embryo has kept growing but has not reached blastocyst stage so no transfer today. They are going to let it go until tomorrow. I asked her how many cells it had got to and she said that she couldn't say as the cells had compacted. They are going to keep it going until tomorrow and see what happens. Again she wasn't hopeful. Does anyone know how far away a compacted embryo is from blastocyst stage. I feel daft now not having asked!

Hey, I’m not sure but I think a day 4 embryo, or morula, sort of compacts and then the next day expands again into a blast. But I’m not completely sure. Fingers crossed for you xxxx

I would say the same as Orla....morula stage is usually when they are compacting. Good luck!xx
