Anyone else starting the IVF tww?

Hi Everyone,

My first time to post on any of these forums - just started my tww after IVF fresh embryo transfer last Monday. This is our first cycle with a BB Blasto! We have been trying for a short time, and are classed as unexplained - good egg quality and no sperm issues.....I am 37.

Just wondering if anyone else is going through this - or has any positive stories to share?

Also any advice of how not to go bonkers during the wait?! ;) I got made redundant just as we were starting this process so have not had work as a distraction. Which can be a good thing - but also stressful to not be working!

Would be good to hear some other people going through the same wait.

Hi, I've just survived the 2ww and now waiting for my first scan! Another torturous wait... Lol.

Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xx

in reply to elle80

Wow - so that means you had a positive test at the end?? :)

Any advice on how to cope with the wait?

Each stage seems so painfully slow - I can imagine even after a positive result the wait for the 1st scan is hard!

Was this your first cycle?

I did, which is not what I was expecting at all!! It still hasn't sunk in yet and I'm just hoping it stays in my tummy 😁

I'm 37 too and we had to have icsi due to my husbands sperm..lol

This was our first cycle, and I have four frozen embryos left, which is reassuring. I had one put back in on the 14th April.

I have no advice on coping with the 2ww, I literally spent every second of the day on Google and still do haha. And although it was the longest 2 weeks ever, once it was over it didn't feel like that long. A bit like going on a trip seems to take ages to get there but coming home seems to go quickly! 😆 If you know what I mean. Xx

in reply to elle80

haha yes doctor google is my best friend honestly! :)

That is so encouraging you got through the first cycle with a positive! So good! Bet you cannot believe it!

I wish we had more left in the freezer - but I think they did not give me enough stimulation - I suppose this is something they can learn from if we need to do another round.

I was still happy to have 2 though - I know sometimes it can be hard to get 1 to Blastocyst.

Thanks for sharing your experiences - helps to know other people are doing the same as me! :)

Did they put both back in?

It's still weird to think that atm I'm pregnant! Now it's just the worry of it staying that way... The anxiety is continuous lol. Xx

in reply to elle80

No they wouldn't put 2 in! They said on NHS with this quality and my age they would not put 2 until I am 38. I said to the consultant I am 38 in a few months so you can put them both in! But she said she can't.... :(

Yes I know - even with a positive result you cannot relax fully - how annoying! Hang in there! I am sure the little one is growing nicely in there.

Yeh they wouldn't put two in either, but I'm quite glad of that. I don't think I could cope with twins! My clinic told me their success rate was higher this year with their frozen transfers than their fresh, so it's reassuring that we have frozen, especially if that's what they're saying. Ooh Good Luck, really hope you get your bfp xx

in reply to elle80

Yes that is what I read - so it is reassuring to hear your story if our first one is not successful we can have a frozen :)

Twins would be amazing - but higher risks I suppose. And also, for us too - twins would be such a challenge!

Hi Michelle!

Did you have any symptoms? - I am 5 days after the Egg Transfer today and honestly I feel nothing at all. I was noticing symptoms of the Progesterone initially - unless I have gotten used to them.

Just feel nothing and a bit concerned that means nothing is happening inside! ;)

Would be great to hear your thoughts.

Hiya, I know it's hard but try not to get too fixated on symptoms, lol I'm saying that, but I Googled everything, like no symptoms at 5dp5dt etc lol. But I definitely lost 'symptoms' for example, my boobs really hurt and then just stopped!! And now they hurt on and off but nowhere near like they had! I constantly felt like my period was coming and that eased off a bit, but only recently. I started to burp and trump a lot haha. But that's not as bad now.. So I do think they ease off, especially as our body gets used to the progesterone. Some people will say they had no symptoms whatsoever and still get a bfp.

I still Google now to see if the pains and twinges are normal or the lack of morning sickness etc.

But it's so hard to know what is normal or not. What is implantation or progesterone..

Keeping my fingers crossed for you xxx

in reply to elle80

Thanks Michelle for your kind response.

Yes I was feeling the same like I started with some symptoms and now have nothing!

Shouldn't complain as maybe it is a good sign!

Your story gives me hope! :)

Hi EB!

Welcome to the forum ☺️ And congratulations on your BB bean(!)

You should find lots of lovely support and advice on here. If you go to the homepage and check under the ‘more’ tab you can search the forum for specific previous threads on any topic you want.

I just had my embryo transfer yday so started my tww.

There’s a few of us at similar times - when Is ur pregnancy test day (OTd)?

Mine is next Saturday- I plan to make the most of the bank holiday weekend! 😎

Try not to stress about work- having the time off is probably the best thing for a while xx

in reply to Saya85

Awww thanks! And welcome to the tww! My blood test is the 14th May - but I think the nurse said I can test at home on the 13th which is a Sunday....

Is this your first cycle?

Hope your transfer went well. I strangely found it really emotional! After holding it all together for months and months. Was a bit embarrassed in the room with the doctors and nurses!

Yes - everyone has said it is good to have some time to relax. Was very strange that I got made redundant just as I was doing all the tests etc - so seems like it was meant to be.

Well - let me know how you are getting on!

Ahh I’m testing on the 12th although I did think that was a bit early.

I had a fresh cycle last year. Was fine all the way through and good set of embryos but failed after implantation. This is our first frozen cycle since.

Transfer was much easier this time. Last year was painful and had lots of issues so I’m feeling good so far.

It’s nice to know there’s lots of us this time ☺️

in reply to Saya85

Oh that is good - yes I will maybe do a home test the day after on the 13th eeek. My whole family is coming to visit and they do not know we are going through IVF so will be hard to hide my emotions the whole weekend.

Good that your transfer was easier this time - I am sure this has to be a good sign. :)

Hey I have no advice for how to not go bonkers ... I’m on the 2WW too and I’m totally going bonkers lol However there are plenty of people here to share and deal with 2WW craziness together. All the best xx

in reply to lolita83

Haha well it helps to know I am not the only one! My boyfriend thinks I have lost it ;)

It is great to know that there are a few people on here in the same frame of mind!

When is your test? Is it your first cycle?

x

lolita83 in reply to

Hey it is my second cycle. The first round we didn’t get any embryos, so was all ready for a fresh implant with nothing to implant. This time, we had 7 top grade at day 3, only 2 made it to Blast. One transferred (FET)one in the freezer. My test day is tomorrow, I haven’t caved and tested early which I’m shocked about!!! Feeling very nervous about tomorrow, have everything crossed. So good to have people to share with xx

in reply to lolita83

Best of luck with your testing then - you are very strong not to test early! Good for you! You have got this far and stayed sane! ;)

I had the same only 2 made it to Blasto - so we have 1 x in the freezer. Makes this cycle a bit easier to know there is one waiting there for us if we need it.

Hope you can manage your nerves tonight!

Good Luck!

I have managed not testing early by putting all my faith in my clinic. I’m following everything they tell me protocol wise, drugs wise etc so I’ll test on the day they told me. Let’s hope my faith pays off! I am not managing my nerves tonight though. I may have to go to bed at like 7pm .... one min it feels like something exciting is happening tomorrow ... the next min I feels like I’ve got something horrid like the dentist lol I’m definitely going bonkers here!!! Wish I could have a cheeky G&T to calm my nerves hahah xx

Yes you are so wise to not test early - I am not testing before the 13th May - as I am afraid to be unsure of the result and causing myself unnecessary stress.

I am dreaming about having a big glass of wine or a margarita! What a shame alcohol doesn't enhance IVF! ;)

Hopefully your test is early in the morning and you get a result pretty quickly!

Have you tried headspace the app? Not for everyone, but it is really helpful to relax. I am not into meditation - I am too hyper lol but this app is very good. Just in case you needed something extra tonight.

Hey thank you for the head space app advice, I’ll look into it!! I didn’t sleep at all lol! I have been listening to Zita West, post transfer, cd daily that helped me relax a bit. Nothing helps massively during the 2WW as it’s so hard to keep calm. Hope you are doing ok xx

in reply to lolita83

Will check it out!

Hope you survived today!

Got my hair cut and went for a cuppa with a friend so feel much better today :)

Sounds like a good plan. I survived .... just...and it was positive. I’m in shock still! I have had a blood test today to confirm .... fingers crossed xxx

Omg amazing!!!! After all that worry. Relax now!

That is exciting news.

It’s very exciting! I can’t believe it as I haven’t really had any symptoms x

in reply to lolita83

Sleep well tonight! :)

That is reassuring you have no symptoms.

I don't have any symptoms apart from what I had from the meds and had these already even before the transfer.

Def reassuring for you. I had tiny bit of cramping on a couple of occasions, tiredness and sore boobs! Think that is all the progesterone though. This is sooo tough. I’m awaiting my blood test results now eeeek x

Hello 👋

I am also on 2ww, had a fresh transfer on Monday (30th).

I have just returned to work today after 2 weeks off sick to try keep my mind occupied but find myself googling all day 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hope your keeping well xx

in reply to staceymac83

Oh Good - same day as me! :) When did they tell you to test?

Good you are back at work - I am searching for a job and think the long days are not helping with the time going very slow. I am also googling everything possible!

I have no symptoms really - just bloating from the medication.....

Countdown begins!

:) x

staceymac83 profile image
staceymac83 in reply to

I have to test on the 11th May.

I have a little bloating and cramping today but other than that nothing.

It can be a long day when ur thinking about nothing else 😳 xx

in reply to staceymac83

ok - maybe I should test on the 11th too - is this a blood test or they told you to test at home?

x

staceymac83 in reply to

I’ve to got to the hospital for a blood test x

in reply to staceymac83

You are lucky - they gave me the 14th as my test date.

Well here is to keeping sane in the meantime! ;)

One positive is the progesterone has cleared my bad skin! lol

x

staceymac83 in reply to

Aww god I wish, my skin is so bad right now 😩

I wonder why ur test date is different 🤷🏻‍♀️ xx

in reply to staceymac83

Really? When I was at the start and on Progynova I was horrific - I was ashamed to leave the house! ;)

But now the progesterone is made it settle down. I think everyone is different. Maybe my hormones just needed regulation!

x

staceymac83 in reply to

I normally don’t have any problem with my skin but since I started it my skin round my nose and chin is spotty, scabby and sore. Hoping it goes soon xx

in reply to staceymac83

I read a bit about it before I went on the meds as I was scared it was going to erupt - but that sounds right what happened to you. It said online that if you don't have acne you can get spots on the meds and if you do it can clear it up! ;)

Hiya 👋🏻 i had my transfer on monday and im going crazy already... the clinic has told me to test on the 11th may we had a 5 day blast that looked like it was also hatching transfered ... this has to be the worst of waits so far .... wishing you lots of luck 🍀hopeing the wait goes quick .... i can guarantee on test day though we will be more nervous weeing on that stick than the actual transfer 🙈 x

in reply to Rachael_

oh wow - I wonder if I should also test on the 11th! :) We had the transfer on the same day!

Yes honestly this is the worst bit! Seems like time is going slowly!

Yea i dont see why u cant 🤞🏻 they said i could go in for a blood test wednesday 9th or test myself on the 11th ..... i think ide rather know myself first hand and take it in if it was a bfn rather than be told so i decided wait it out the extra 2 days ... have you got any symptoms ive been getting a few like downpulling twindges (i dont know how to explain it) and my boobs feel like melons so sore 🙈 🍉 i cant belive test day is 9 days away. Xx

in reply to Rachael_

Wednesday the 9th is so early! Yes I prefer to have a test at home and know before I hear from them too.

I have been having symptoms since I started taking the progesterone - so hard to know if anything is different. My boobs have been like melons since I started on the meds!

So much bloating on the meds too - so no idea what symptoms are what! ;)

I'm currently on day eight of the TWW. It has been the slowest eight days of my entire life i'm afraid to say and I've been keeping myself busy yet relaxing loads too! The test date I was given is two weeks to the day they put the embryo back in, so that would be 15dp5dt. Really late compared to lots of ladies on here. I couldn't wait any longer and foolishly took a test 6dp5dt, which was a BFN. Hoping it was just too faint to see and I will have a better outcome next Wednesday.

Good luck, fingers crossed for everyone x

in reply to katie_lou

Sounds good! Seems like you are doing everything right! Mine seems late too - same 15 days after 5dt......

I would be tempted to test earlier - but might be torture.

x

abcgirl profile image
abcgirl in reply to

Mine is 15dp5dt as well! Seems so much longer than most. My OTD is May 11 but I think I might test either the 10th or 8th. (I have an event in the 9th so don’t want to test and ruin the day of negative)

in reply to abcgirl

That is cool! Let me know how you are getting on. My boyfriend has told me not to test earlier than the clinic told me! So HARD not to! :)

Will you be doing a home test first?

I kind of think I might do a sneaky test on the 11th May, then on the 13th May.

My whole family is over that weekend and they do not know I am doing IVF - so it is bad timing for emotional tests etc.

x

abcgirl profile image
abcgirl in reply to

My clinic doesn’t do blood tests so they only go by The Home pregnancy test. That’s probably why they told me to test so late
