Pregnancy test, then started to bleed day 13

Hi everyone

New to this site, I am day 13 today and taken a test I had two red lines!!! I was suppose to wait till day 15 but couldn’t wait.

Now this afternoon I have started bleeding with cramps I’m panicking like anything now.

Has anyone experienced the same does this mean even though my test was positive I’m having a misscarriage?

Any help would be great full x

Hi Jess, I personally don't have any experience on bleeding. Only from what I've read from other posts. Is it a lot of blood, or just a little? What colour is it? And are the cramps really painful? Can you phone your clinic to see what they say? If you're worried there should be an on call number to speak to a nurse. I hope you'll be OK xx

It’s red not brown, cramps are just like period pains not sure what to do don’t think I can call the clinic until tomorrow. Wishing I hadn’t done the test now! Will have to just wait and see if the bleeding stops then take another test Wednesday I guess.

Hi Jess

I have been in you're shoes twice now, and both times I have had to go to ane, I tried to contact the epau but they sent me to ane.

In my case both times I miscarried, although I have friends who have bled and everything has been fine.

You need to keep an eye on your bleeding and go to ane. They will check your hcg level and do a vaginal exam. If your levels are OK they will book a scan, usually the next day. They usually ask you only to go back to ane if your bleeding exceeds a normal period, or the pain becomes unbearable (this indicates an ectopic).

If your hcg levels are low they will repeat your bloods again in 48hours and compare your hcg levels to see if they have doubled. They have to be at a level where they would see something on a scan.

If they are still too low this is usually a miscarriage, they normally ask you to repeat a home test in a weeks time to ensure that you do not have any retained products.

Sorry this is happening I have heard of quite alarming bleeds that still turn out ok so fingers X'd this is the case for you x

Hi Jess, I’m sorry you are having to go through this, it must be so horribly stressful. The worst case is it could be a chemical pregnancy (an early loss), where implantation starts, but the pregnancy ends because there is something not quite right with the embryo. Im sad to say that the two times I have bled red blood, on or around OTD, this is what happened to me & I know how utterly heartbreaking this can be 💔.... However while I was going through that, I read lots and lots of stories of women having red bleeds (sometimes very heavy, e.g. in the event of a subchorionic hematoma) and who continued to full term, healthy pregnancies 😊. It is surprisingly common for women to bleed even during healthy pregnancies, so please do not lose faith. Sending all my love & hoping for a positive outcome for you xxx

Oh sweetie I’m really sorry to read this.

A positive test means you are pregnant congrats.

I had this last year I had a positive test and started bleeding the next day 💔 unfortunately mine was a miscarriage but I do know lots of ladies who have bled and been ok and really hope you are one of them ❤️ bleeding in pregnancy is very common and isn’t always a sign of a miscarriage. ❤️

As others have said any bleeding in pregnancy does need to be checked over by a doctor.
