NHS waiting lists are a joke!

So not to mention the fact that it took months for OH to have his Microtese op on the NHS. But now weve had 2 failed rounds of ICSI (we paid for privately) and we asked for further investigations as to why OH sperm is not coming out naturally (possible blockage) . To be told we will be referred to a Urologist on the NHS. Waited 5 weeks so far for an appointment. Called them this afternoon to chase them only to be told we wont have a consultation till at the earliest late August!! So basically theres a 20 week wait until OH can see the Urologist on the NHS. So i called the Urologist secretary today to see if we can have a private appointment at a cost of £160 and was told we can be seen tomorrow morning at 10.30am! If only they told us earlier theres a 20 week wait!!! We could have got this sorted 5 weeks ago! 😠 sorry about the rant just hits you more when your 40! Xx

Oh no! What a nightmare.

It’s so annoying that they didn’t tell you this earlier, the wait just drags on and on.

I hope that tomorrow’s appointment goes well and that you get some answers x

Don’t need to apologise; waits make this process so stressful. They don’t understand the impact this has on us. Anyway at least you are seeing the specialist today and I hope the appointment goes well and you are one step closer towards having your baby. Do let us know how you get on. I feel your pain. 1 round of icsi with my eggs got 1 egg didn't fertilize told me i need DE.

3 years later im still waiting for our 2nd funded cycle.

im 40 now and apparently they will honour my age as it was agreed when i was under 40 to have funding.

long story short we got fed up with waiting so went private abroad and currently 30 weeks pregnant! for the record we are still on the waiting list for the DE cycle on the nhs! I have kept quiet for now until i hold my son in my arms

Thats great news! Gives me hope x We are going to see if anything can be done about OH having this blockage if nothing can be done I will pay privately to go to Cyprus. It just goes to show how quickly things move when you pay for them yourself! X

Glad it’s all sorted and yes the NHS does my nut in half the time. They really do test patience!
